Haven't been on here much lately, but I thought I'd post an update.

About an hour ago, somebody or most likely a group of people threw a large rock (bout the size of a basketball) into the rear hatch glass of a Hatchback Celica which I'm building for my sister. The rear glass is completely shattered but luckily none of the parts inside were stolen. The rock landed on top of an ST205 front bumper core support and smashed a 96+ front bumper I had in the hatch. It's too heavy to lift the rock out with all the glass in the way right now. Already filed a police report.

My convertible Celica had a smaller rock next to it (about the size of a softball). The rock appeared to had been thrown at the window in attempt to break it, but they did not succeed. The window is chipped up, but not cracked. The Convertible top is barely damaged, the rock seemed to have just knicked it a bit. The Celicas were parked out on the street in front of my house both right next to each other.

The main question that was brought up by the officer was if I had any enemies up here. I don't believe I have any enemies up here. I actually don't believe I have many enemies at all. The rocks that were thrown at my car were not from around the house. They were rocks that seemed to be part of a sidewalk curb or construction. I drive responsibly everywhere I go, I don't speed or drive recklessly. All I do up here is go to work and come home. I don't hang out with certain people or dress any certain way where people would relate me with other people. I'm kind of having a hard time understanding why my cars were targeted. I live at a dead end street on the top of a hill. Whoever had done this must have known where my cars where at and even bothered to carry rocks from another location just to throw at and into my cars.

I always thought in a situation like this, I would feel depressed, or full of revenge. But I'm really not either of those. I actually feel somewhat fortunate that my cars are still here and not stolen, and nothing inside was stolen. None of the exspensive parts were damaged much. There's really nothing I could have done to avoid this either, so I'm not really beating myself up taking blame for anything. All I can do is get the glass repaired and move on with my life. I can take pictures of the damage tomorrow when the sun is out.

that really sucks man... i dont know what i would do in that situation. you seem to be dealing with it fine so.. good for you. but still. that sucks ass. stupid punks.

damn derrick. your a chillax guy who would do this??? that's just way too much for celica hate. that's like attempted murder. im glad that your cars are still there.

Thanks. I don't think whoever did it had anything personally against me, because nobody up here really knows me. I've only been living here for a few months and only speak to co-workers. And even when I speak with them, I have never exposed my address or given them any information as to what I had installed on my car other than the obvious exterior modifications which they can clearly see. They weren't after the rims. Weird thing is, on the convertible, it looked like the threw the rock at my Celica, and the Celica broke the rock into smaller pieces because there was the one big chunk of rock and several smaller pieces around the sidewalk.

The cop made a mention that there is a large chance the act had to do with my race/ethnicity. I don't disagree that this could very well be a valid reason, but that would mean that whoever did this would have had to have known I owned both these vehicles and have been watching me for some time now.

That really sucks I would not know what to do

Yeah Daftboy, it all happened within 10 minutes. So I wasn't exactly sure what to do, so I just did all that I could do. Filed a police report, covered the car up with a tarp, and went to sleep with a smile on my face. I'm not going to let haters get to me and try to bring me down .

Just a week ago, my Celicas were hanging out peacefully on my street. I think people were jealous that my Celicas are BFFs.

Sorry to hear that happened...I know I wouldn't be as relaxed about it as you are, so props for that. Good thing though, is that they didn't come after you, just your cars. I'd probably put a camera or at least a light with a motion sensor out front, just in case they try something again.Also, do you have a garage?

Thanks man. I will look into a security system like that. We do know that whoever did this was walking because the house across the street has a motion sensor light for their driveway that turns on when a car drives past on the street. Idk why it's so sensitive, but whenever I drive past at night, the light turns on. Which makes me think these people disliked me even more because they were willing to carry a rock that large up a hill by foot just to throw into my car.

As for the garage, the house does have a garage, but I'm only renting a room in this house, so I do not get garage parking. It's a 2 car garage and the renters downstairs get one side, while the landlord gets the other side. I don't even get overnight driveway parking because of our schedules, we would end up blocking each other in on some mornings.

Park them in the driveway, maybe they wont be as brave. It sux man.

Man that sucks. I would be so pissed off if that happened to me. If i were u, i would invest in a couple guns. Kill the 6gc hater!!

Yeah I live in the Bay. Thank you very much for the offer, I'm good for today though. Not much that can be done today, other than vacuum ,clean up and find a place to keep all the parts I have stored inside the hatch. If you know any reputable glass repair shops in the area, then that could come in handy . I'm estimating a rear hatch glass replacement is about $200 right? I would take it to work and see what they could do, but I would rather have someone come to the house and repair it if at all possible.

Hope this is just a ****ed up childish prank and not a planned attack. Things like this always creep me out.

This is saddening to see. I don't understand how you can be so calm about it, but on the other hand, you have no clue who to be mad at so it would be in vain if you were. =\

Got to be jealosy in my opinion. not often you see two nice celicas on the sidewalk in any area!!

Two things bro:
1. NEVER keep stuff in the hatch like that - you're asking for this to happen. It still could have been someone trying to get all that stuff out of the car and perhaps the light scared them off - that's how they do it. Bust the window with a big rock, grab the stuff and haul ass. As far as the cops think - you asked for that to happen [Trust me - I've had one tell me just that before when a system got stolen from one of my old ones - pissed me off almost as much as the theft]
2. Just be happy the extra weight on the parking brake didn't cause it to roll down the hill .IDK about you but I just pull the brake far enough to keep it from rolling and not all the way up so the cable doesn't get stressed [tho I could see why you would pull yours all the way up LOL - I wouldn't feel like my car was safe parking on a hill that steep ]

Unless you have gone out of your way to make enemies I'd consider this random vandalism. Seems highly unlikely that this would be a race related issue in this day and age and where you live [SF right?]. What race are you BTW?

Hope this works out OK for you - last time I checked back hatch windows were significantly higher than $200 due to the defroster - that is if you intend to keep that.

Indeed. but i really doubt they planned on stealing anything because why would you throw a large rock on top of things you're planning on stealing? The cops' thinking was that they were trying for it to be heard, to send some sort of a message. Because the cop said that when people steal things from cars, they usually break a door window and/or use some sort of metal tool and hammer to break the window with less noise. All the parts inside the car are 6gc specific so, they would only be able to sell the parts, and I'm sure they would have no idea how much TRD and SSIII extentions sell for. The only reason it bothered be a little is because this car is not just a car, but a car that I'm building for someone who means a lot to me, and they just went ahead and vandalized it for reasons unknown.

If they were trying to steal something, they had to have seen the car in the day time or on a different date. The windows on that car fog up at night and you can't see anything on the inside. I couldn't even see through the glass that night at all (well, out of the windows that weren't broken). The cop kept thinking it was just ememies or something, but I haven't done anything up here to get any enemies. I haven't gone out to public places (other than to eat and go to work), and I haven't tried to pick up anyone's girl... wait.. no, well, lemme think...um.. no I haven't. I just live my life like a hermit and don't get in anyone's way up here. He said that the night before a bunch of rims were stolen from cars in the area. If they had the intention of stealing my wheels, they probably saw the hill and realized that jacking my car up wouldn't be a good idea unless they wanted to be ran over by it haha. Also very difficult to jack up a car that is 2" off the ground.

Thanks for the heads up on the hatch glass. I'm going to need the rear defrosters because this car is being sent back to the East Coast when completed. So you think it will be like maybe double the price? $400 perhaps?

Oh, the Hatchback is Automatic so I just leave it in park and it's ok. The parking brake doesn't work so well in it, but the convertible is there to catch it if anything happens . Ok jk, I would rather have that car roll away than into the GTfour front end. The hill is pretty steep, so I always turn my wheels the proper way to prevent it from rolling in case something happens. I remember when AZN87 parked his Celica there and when he came back outside, his car had rolled down the hill into someone else's yard .

And my race is Asian/Chinese.

Ok, All cleaned up. I got the price quote from PowerAutoGlass of $245 + $55 (because it has rear defrosters) to replace the window. Not too bad, I'm still going to look around and see what my options are. I won't have time to be at home till next week anyways, so I have until Monday to schedule a time to get it done.

Oh and 808, haha, the soothing Hawaiian Kona coffee is some good stuff. The Chocolates were good too.. mmmm. When I find a more secure place to keep my Celicas, I will come visit and pick some up .

I did the inventory check on everything inside the Celica and vacuumed everything up. It looks nicer than it did when I bought the car haha.

The fun begins . Everything removed...how did I fit everything in there....tetris skills... oh yeah.


Time to Vacuum..


Inventory checks out good . All valueables were moved to a safer location, away from potential theives. Celica is no longer an acceptable storage unit.

Haha, yeah, must be a sign. I have a few more things to accomplish before I can move back to SoCal. Hmmm but now that you mention it... There have been a few signs I should not be here.. Last year my Convertible Celica blew the water pump on the drive up here. I had never had a problem with the car before that. Then, when I moved up here, the hatchback ran out of gas when the gauge was still reading above a quarter tank, leaving me stranded with a dead cell phone on the side of the freeway. I've never ran out of gas before, and my cell phone being dead is a rare occasion. And now this act of Vandalism... Hmmm...

being 18 this is pretty easy to figure out. Teenagers were def driving around with that rock in the back of a truck just looking for sh!t to smash. That picture of your two celicas modded right next to eachother just screams out that you love them. As hard as it sounds teenagers look to destroy that loved stuff all the time. When me and my boys ride around town we always hate on the group of identical civics with fart cans that love there civics to death do them part. I dont think this much different besides the fact that they had that rock and were intending on facking someones shiz up.

Def not racial, no spray paint, not enough damage, not pre-meditated.

If i was you i WOULD NOT make any indication that you were effected by the vandalism, if you put up a big fancy surveillance system with lights and cameras, whoever did this is going to see they accomplished their goal to hurt you and see the cameras and lights as a challenge for round 2. Brush your shoulders off and move on playa

Well, there didn't seem to be a car/truck, and plus the rock thrown at my convertible Celica was thrown at the passenger side window, meaning the thrower had to have been standing on the sidewalk. Also, look at the placement of the rock in the hatchback. It was thrown from standing from the sidewalk as well. The rock is to the left of the large hole in the glass, meaning that the rock came from the right side of the car. Spray paint wouldn't have affected the car much, cause well.. the car is primer and ready for paint soo... hahaha. It's easy to remove paint from glass, and as long as they don't use clear coat on the paint haha, I could have just resprayed over it. .

I don't think there should be this kind of hate in the world. The reason I choose to not worry about the vandals so much is not because I'm worried they will come back, because I already know I cannot avoid it even if they do. I can not control the actions of others, but I can control my own and how I react to their actions. Why should I let them choose how I feel? I feel great and they aren't going to change that. Anything can be taken as a challenge for them to do it again. Even by me not being bothered by it, can make them come back and try even harder to hurt me. There are always going to be haters, but I'm not going to be afraid to live my life because of them. I'm not afraid because I know I've done nothing wrong, and as long as I continue to live a good life, things will always turn out for the best .
