(now wheres that front bumper i ordered......)

p.s.- i honestly dont mind if the scoop isnt functional, i'd rather just have it go over the existing body than have to cut into it
so when are these gonna go into production and when can we buy them? thanks.

Nathan
>biggrin.gif> forkee...

That's actually really close to what I have in mind.... might even use that photo as a model for the sculpting!

As for a production date... the replica mold was finished last night... I am going to make the replica piece tonight.... Thursday I'm going clubbin... Friday I am gonna spin at DREAMLAND and then Saturday I will start the sculpting... so hopeful by Tuesday I will have the passanger side completed and have the finished piece. Then I will have to do the same process for the other side..

I am hoping to have these ready for shipping within two weeks tops... but that may change.

As for the skirts being functional I am still debating this... I might offer them not functional and then have a kit that would include the tubing and the scoop that goes into the body of the car... this would cost more than the skirts that are nonfunctional.

As for purchasing these side skirts they will be avalible only through me... when both side are completed I will post a reply that will have pics of them and the cost for the set and info for ordering them..

Right now I am trying to keep the cost for the set between $200-300. I already have over $200 into the production of these and I have barely started on them. Just to make the 1st set I will have an estimated $1000 into them... obviously they will cost less once all the molds are made. Once I figure out how much just I have in just one complete set then I will be able to figure an exact price for you guys.. As for shipping it will be through UPS unless I have to truck freight them... depends on size and weight of the box. I will have more info about shipping at a later time...

Thanks,
Neverstop

Everything looks great...as for buying it you can count me in (also known as 6th gen on celica.net). Although it'd take me a bit of time to get that kind of money, is that an issue?

could you detail the process of sculpting? seems like a pretty generic term. how are you actually going about this? I would be very interested in a write up.

thnx
To answer your question about sculpting.... Usally I would use streofoam or bent chicken wire to get a basic shape and then bondo and fiberglass for the details..

For this project I am actually using sculpting clay for the design.. Once it is all formed in the clay I will use a sealer on it and then make a fiberglass mold of it. Once I have a mold then I just use the mold to create the new pieces.

Once I have the mold I can make these at any time... I am only really planning on making about 10 sets though... will make more if there is enuf demand for it but not sure how many people that say they want them will acutally pick them up.

Also I had hoped to have the drivers side done today but it snowed over the weekend and was too cold for me to work on it so I hope to have it done within this week.

Thanks

I just now found this website recently and I was looking at the forums and found this. I was about to get a body kit for my car and I really like your ideas. Have you started selling them yet or are you already sold out? Also, will it work with the coupe model or will it only work with the liftback? Thanks.
Well I haven't finished them yet... it's been way to cold for me to work on them... I hope to have them done sometime within the month.... as for what they will fit... any 6th gen.

Thanks

Sounds great. Going off the pre-production sketches, I think I'd like to get in on this too. I'll try to keep up with the posts to see how they're coming along.
I like your concept 2 design very much.
I agree with you about the line/part along the door ... way to difficult to fit (and stay fitted).
Not sure about forkee's design - sorry about that.
It's just that I do not like how it sweeps up at the back.
I prefer the bottom of the skirt to run horizontal.

I have my ideas on kits and have already decided to do a mix and match.
(Veilside/Vis/Carconcept)
These are awesome and exactly what I'm looking for.
I would prefer a functional set.

The $200-300 price is OK for me...even if it is going to cost me a small fortune to ship to France.
Keep me/us posted.

any progress lately? what's the word?

Nathan
It's been too cold for me to work on it. I am afraid that the molds and stuff wont cure how I want them to and then the pieces will have to be reworked. It's suppossed to be really nice sunday and monday which are my days off so I am gonna work on them if I can.. I'll keep you guys posted on these.

Thanks

i got it off of mbautosport.com. the dealer is nearby so i didnt have to pay for shipping, i just went over and picked it up. it was $176 flat. i had to pay 400 to put it on tho cuz a hell of a lot of fiberglass was added to the light sockets. it also included the paint job, which looks a lot better than in the pics (stupid digital camera). but yea >biggrin.gif> still waitin on my jdm tails from roo.....HIN CITY here i come!!! >tongue.gif>
What`s the scoop on the side skirts? Are they still going to be made?I have most of the money saved up. >biggrin.gif>
yeah man, what's the W3RD? >confused.gif>
I will definitely take them. Those look saweet. Woot woot.
yeah there still gonna get made... its just been too cold for me to work on them.... as soon as I get a couple more nice days to work they should be done... I will keep you guys updated on them as soon as I have something.

I just stumbled across somthing that might make this a little easier... check it out

The measurement on a 5th gen celica is 71 inches... I am going to check on the 6th gen measurements and see how close it is if its within an inch or two it might be cheaper for you guys to just buy these side skirts and have a shop do it for you... other wise I will still finish making them.

99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =)
I jus went and measured one of my molds for the side of the 6th gen... I dont have my car close to me right now so I need someone to verify this for me but the measurement that I got was 70.5 inches if that is the actual measure ment which I am pretty sure it is then they should work. I am not sure on how they would work with the side of the car though... I think I might just buy a set and them modify them how they need to be to work on a 6th gen and then reproduce them for you guys.... I will get back to you guys on this.

edit: thanks oreo... think u could make it a little smaller though??? >biggrin.gif>

Very nice!
Just a couple of points/observations:
- How much are they?
- How well would they fit a 6GC?
- There appears to be no way to make them practical, that is, the ducting/scoop at the back is closed and has no grill, therefore there is no air flow for brake cooling.

I personally would be prepared to wait for you to come up with something as I'd be getting exactly what I want and they would fit correctly.
(...and I'm prepared to pay for that).
