Tigawoods' 1995 Celica - 6G Celicas Forums

these were the calipers I was going to get. Had a bespoke setup that would match up to the stock GT front and rear rotors.

But when a 2 piece Apexi rotor setup, larger ST205 rear rotors, along with the F/R ST205 calipers came up, i figured that would be a better path to take, since with the other setup id be using the heavier ebc front rotor and stock rear rotor.
So I will be selling my EBC front slotted rotors when I install the new setup

these still are so damn pretty. Im still a little sad I didnt go for them.
The fensport st205 and I believe their ST202 as well has a Tarox BB setup

I got turned onto the company from my friend who got a sponsorship from them for his Z build. They are GREAT looking products

This thing is going to look and sound mean whipping around the track, I cant wait for pics!

st205 powered ss3 coupe
lets hope it starts!

Tonight I got frustrated with timing the engine so I popped the pistons on all the caliper halves and removed the inner gaskets.
Probably going to drop them off to get PC'd tomorrow

My friend pointed out that the ST205 rear rotors are larger in diameter than the Supra TT front rotors I have.....odd

It really is... I don't have money to toss around, so there's nothing to show off. After the rebuild, I've just been keeping her running. No money for very much else, unfortunately. With my free money, I picked up a really nice '82 Trek 311 and I've been riding that everywhere. The Celi is more of a weekend car/grocery runs now. Not the respect she deserves!!

Just keep her running! Just another thing you wont have to worry about come the time you have the money and time to mod more. (no fun trying to fix leaks and timing when trying to modify)

Not the respect?? You are prolonging her life!!

front disc are from Supra NON turbo.

AH so the rotors are MK4 non-turbo and the calipers (replacement parts) match up with the MK4 tt

I am not sure that when I go to repaint/fill holes on the car if it wouldnt be much more $ to just go ahead and respray the entire body.

I have been tossing around the idea (if it comes down to a full respray) for a while of doing a Frozen Clear coat
like so, opinions?

it's a beautiful finish, I got to see it at the NY autoshow last year and fell in love iwth it. not sure you'd want on a car that will be raced / daily driven as that finish is less forgiving about scratches, you can't really buff it, or wax it as far as I know.
I was near breathless when I saw it for the first time too.

Its easy to maintain....but when scratches and knicks start to appear, yeah, you cant touch it up and buff it. It would need to be resprayed.

I do plan (on whatever route I take) to get a ceramic paint protection coat and possibly even a clear bra

For the most part I will TRY not to to daily drive the car. Only for nice weather days. Other than that it will be under a cover.

As for racing, I do plan on doing it, maybe not this year, and I wont be under as much pressure to race since I wont be under a sponsor contract with Tarox.

Although its advised not to be done. It was nessecary to split the calipers to remove all the seals so I could get them powder coated.

I have been digging around for some info on the size and material of the original o-rings. And I have found that they are dash -109 sized. An appropriate compound for a replacement ( since toyota doesnt have a P/N for them nor does any other resource I have looked into) which would hold up to the temperatures and be resistant to brake fluid is Viton ETP.

I have contacted a couple places on quotes for a square ring and hope to hear back. Im not sure if there is a minumum order, but if this all works out, it would be nice to have a place to grab these for people who want to rebuild their ST205 calipers and not re-use the halve seals

http://www.marcorubber.com/square_rings.htm

thank fate for bringing this to my attention. I should be posting my findings for future generations!!

a side note, the Supra TT brake setup is WAY heavier than the ST205, the caliper share brake components and internals but the ST205 calipers are made out of alluminum, the supra TT caliper is cast iron, I almost cried when I picked mine up ( currently installing them on my lexus IS )

Each Supra TT caliper is almost 30 lbs after pads.

Can Lithia order the caliper rebuild kit for the ST205 calipers? I think the kits are only like $25 per caliper for the GT calipers, and it would be great if they could order the kits for the ST205 calipers. The frozen clearcoat finish looks great, but I'd stick to a regular clearcoat so it can be buffed if it ever gets scratched.

the rebuilt kit doesnt include the o rings he's looking for, it's been a known issue with toyota 4 piston calipers, people have to source their o rings elsewhere as toyota does not provide them.

No doubt, props for takin the initiative. I had a thread from the supra forums of someone else's trial and error with the o-rings, but have since lost it.

The "Fly Low" Project: 3rd Gen 3SGTE
Well I am not surprised by the response but since they dont stock that size and it would need to be custom cut,the minimum order would be $100 which would yield around 100 pieces

But then you can sell them to people who need them, bump up the price, and make some money on top of it!

9 pcs - O-ring AS568-109 , #7265D Viton-ETP - $27.76 each
Delivery 2 weeks; Ex-works; We accept Visa, MasterCard, Amex.

You would be required to perform any cuts or modification to the o-ring as suggested in your inquiry.

I believe from the last part, he is saying that it would be a regular o-ring and if I wanted a stright cut ring, id need to cut it myself

Doing some more research I found out that people are using regular tubular o-rings instead of cross sectioned o-rings as replacements, (probably because they are cheaper and more readily available)

Tubular o-rings could work, and probably have, but they probably dont cover the surface area in the gasket channel as well as the cross sectioned rings do. And Id rather not take that risk.

here is another info thread
http://my.is/forums/f89/fyi-supra-bbk-brak...-orings-387452/

I can get quoted for cross sectioned gaskets, but I need the dimensions of the original ones, which are not with me. I had read measurements on a thread on another forum somewhere but I cant find it anymore

Also FYI:
99 Porsche Carerra Calipers can be modded to fit our cars smile.gif

GAH! Update!!
Found it!!!
outside diameter: 12.50mm
inside diameter: 8.75mm
thickness: 1.95mm
source: http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=37350
I assume since these measurements where of a used gasket, that the thickness measurement should be increased slightly

These measurements given are actually proof of the wear from compression of the gasket. The numbers dont add up:
8.75 + 1.95 +1.95 = 12.65
All of this, assuming the gaskets where originally squared. With the above measurements, the thickness for the face part of the 0-ring would be 1.875

I dont think it really matters what that thickness is (for the most part). All it would be doing is changing the inner diameter which is already substantially larger than the fluid opening, and even after compression I can imagine it still would leave a large enough hole for the fluid to pass through.

dropped the car off at the fab shop on Monday for exhaust.
Unfortunately they wont be able to START until 2 weeks from now.

The calipers are also done the PC, and I will be able to pick them up next weekend, and reassemble them.
