Thanks Cam!

Yeah I just got the front hubs pressed in!
Unfortunately I havent gotten a notification from Motorsport Tech about my spacers so I doubt that I will get them before Friday, so I probably wont be able to test fit the wheels next weekend.

1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situationエキサイティングカーレーシングチーム!march2010 COTM:6GCfeature2014:january2015-2016-2018 COTM
back to the car this weekend and got a little done. Most was planning/measuring for a few things.

got the 5x114.3 hubs in and mounted

while cleaning the passenger side caliper I found some pitting in the powder coat. The same showed up on the drivers side caliper in the same spot.

I had planned on mounting the front wheels today but my tie rod end on the drivers side decided to be an ass and freeze up on me so I will have to wait until my new one comes in. At that point the Spacer Adapters from MotorsportTech will be in so I can mount all 4 wheels at the same time.

I also decided today to relocate the battery to the trunk so that I could move the intake filter to a better location. Ordering the wire and etc for that today.

other than that, need more money so I can get more things done by spring!

What pads are you running? Possibly the cause of pitting?

Red stuff pads. I think its due to the heating of the calipers and possibly bad bonding of the coating

Looks as though its just behind the face of the caliper. Hopefully it wont proceed to being worse wink.gif

If it does, thatll just be an excuse to get AP Racing Calipers!

All this talk of brakes, and previous talk of parts liquidation... do I smell a big brake kit coming??

No frown.gif maybe well down the line but I figure these will last me a couple more years.

I am actually re-organizing my winter plans and coating the wheels closer to springtime while getting more important work done for now.

Also worth noting that I found out the knocking issue I had in my front Drivers strut area.
Im not sure if I noted it before but after installing the EDFC Active Pro, I had a knocking sound and I couldn't figure out what it was.
Well this past weekend, I picked up the strut to re-install and noticed that the top lock nut on the piston shaft was loose and was allowing play between the top hat and upper spring bearing. LUCKILY the EDFC motor kind of acted like a jam nut and never allowed for the nut to completely unwind off!

When I was a tech I personally witnessed a strut come apart from the top mount on an evo 8, the results were less than desired. You sir are lucky! biggrin.gif

I love what you are doing with the car, keep it up
Is there much gains for going for a ECU that can tune the whole rev range and gain low down torque in a red top BEAMS? I have seen a Black top altezza gain near 40hp with a exhaust and ecu in Japan which was stunning to say the least
Also in regards to the 98octane fuel Waynos is using, it is Australian fuel so equates to 93 in the USA system from my research.

Thanks man!

Yeah I think there is alot of benefit to having a standalone on the BEAMS. Its a great motor stock but I think it can be tweaked a good amount more. Im not sure how much more torque can be achieved from the Redtop with basic bolt ons and a tune, but I will be able to tell you in a year or two!

I had figured it was about that for its "conversion" thanks for the research and input!

oh and got my adapters from motorsport tech.
they messed up on the order and didnt send me one of the right pairs so now I have a 18mm pair and 25mm pair to Adapt the rear RE30's. 25mm will be way too much but ill throw them on to see how cool it would look if my wheels poked haha

couldnt find out the RE30's bore so I couldnt get the spacers hubcentric to the wheel frown.gif just hubcentric to the hub

I would suggest that a measuring device may help...

I agree. That would have help had I one at the time around having to order the adapters

I didnt really see it being a problem as Ive been running the spacers on my car right now lug centric to the wheel without any issues

1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situationエキサイティングカーレーシングチーム!march2010 COTM:6GCfeature2014:january2015-2016-2018 COTM
I get to test mount the new wheels this weekend

I CAN T WAIT!!

Properly meaty biggrin.gif
They're gonna look great post-blue!

taking too long to mod since '09June '12 COTM'95 AT200
I hope so!

I wish they were black, I would have driven around with them for a while. There were a couple black sets for sale but they were super expensive and didnt come with tires frown.gif
I like how the Yellow pops from behind the dark color, if only there was an easy and cheap way to powdercoat wheels over an over again. I may plastidip (AUUUGH) them black someday just to see

At least the blue works with the car though.

Opposed to if your car were red or yellow, etc... Could be worse, they could be pink. tongue.gif

I do like them, just not the blue.

Get them wrapped? That would be your cheaper option without doing plastidip.

Is that a thing? wrapping wheels? That sounds complicated

Are you going for a super white or something with some bling like a metallic or pearl?

I planned on having them paint match the championship white that my gramlights have.

Also another note on the TEIN coilovers.
The rears are as low as they are able to ever go.

The spring is lowered to the max on the shock body (and when the suspension is unloaded and off the ground) to the ppoint where the spring becomes unseated from the upper rubber perch. That is the only way I can lower it to the point pictured below.
This shouldnt be an issue on street driving but may cause some issues when dog-legging on auto-x or track days. I will find out soon

I think my mind is corrupted after seeing stance after stance car and promotes some sort of idea in my head that my car needs to be flush.
BUT I do think the rear does need to be a little lower to prevent all the rear rotation I am getting. I dont want to spin out at the track.
I am going to inquire to TEIN about doing 2 custom coilovers to replace these.

also I have a new favorite area of the engine bay.
