is it safe to drive with it getting hot like that?

probably not, i think that the insulation around your hot wire is coming off and shorting out, this would cause sparks and could start a fire. driving teh car might make the wire vibrate more and make the situation worse. you really need to trace the hot wire and see where its shorting out

I actually had that happen to me once, due to a cheap fuse holder. Luckly I noticed something was wrong and pulled over right away, but it was already burning!

Your alarm issues are probably related to the battery/wiring issue that you are seeing.

Stevenson I gonna come by and help find the short over the weekend...My alarm is bc my clicker broke and i cant set or unset it I bought a new clicker but can program it so i wiher gotta figure out of to disconnect the alarm or have a new one installed.

I was hoping to be able to bring my car to csp but ill have to have these little things ironed out first...thanks for the help guys!!!

If you know the brand and model of the alarm, you can normally download instructions on how to reprogram the remote.
If not, pull the lower panel on your dash, and see what ya got.

I am writing this thread bc I have basically reach the end of my rope with the drama behind this car. This post will get personally and for people who do not like drama is not worth the read. This post is also going to be very honest.

I am not sure who of you from the site even know me anymore which its fine, I'm looking to to vent.

If you do know me you know I was in a longterm relationship with _jim_ from this site. Well a few years ago that went sour. (so if he owes you parts Please do not send me any messages I can't help sorry) I will try my best to refine from name calling and such. If he reads this I don't care. If he doesn't I still do not care.

Here it goes, Jim, always worked on my car. He did all the work(with help from members from this site) and I always followed his advice and all that. I have knowledge behind the celica but I really never worked on it he handled everything. When we took time apart(broke up) my engine wasn't really finished the car was drivable but needed some fine tuning I:E knock sensors relays the top mount had to be hooked up he never set up my gauges and the list goes on and on. Jim promised me he said don't worry I will help you with the car.

The car was not very reliable something kept draining the battery had a few other annoyances and I just needed help. Thats when I called him and if you know me you know I not a mean or nasty person so I called nicely asking for his help. Thats when he said just face it you are not in a place in your life were you should have this car he said sell it to me. its time you move on. I cried. honestly I did..this car has been all my time, money, and my life and you are just going to tell me to get rid of it. I said no I love it too much.

Things went on and on and on. I drove it a little here and their and I had it, I just couldn't take the feeling of being helpless and know that the person I spent 10 yrs with who could easily help me just could not let me be happy.

After a long time of thinking I was like ok I have to sell it bc its pointless all I can do is wash it and look at it..(which I did often) offering it to Jim broke my hurt it killed me inside but I figured he would give me the most money since he knew what went into it and he will give it to me quick. Well I was WRONG!

It has been about 2 years since he gave me a $1500 down payment. I'm an asshole for letting it go on this long but I loved this person, I didn't want to be the bad guy.(I never do) oh and at one point he said listen I will part the car for you and I will give you the money I owe you as I get it. I laughed at him what kind of offer is that? Oh and who would buy the parts after you screwed over so many 6gc members. Now he has owed me $5500 for 2 yrs.

Okay, what brought me to write this post. The other day I sent him a message please lets move past this just give me 4k and lets be done. He says deal. Later he says 3k is all I can do and its not me buying the car its my brother. Then, I needed $3500 rather quickly bc I could had bought my dads mustang. Jim refused refused refused I even explained the situation I am in, but he wouldn't budge on the 3k. Meanwhile Ive been going back and forth if I really want to sell it. Now, I agree I said just get me the $3000 basically I surrender Im so over it all. He tells me ok two weeks. I had enough I am done waiting so I said no I want the money buy Saturday and he tells me he doesn't have all the money. (THAN WHY WOULD YOU OFFER IT)

Here I am now so confused so hurt broke. Im dealing with anxiety and now its worse and it just sucks.

Btw he has had my car for the 2 years. Yes its crazy but the inspection was up and I had it in the street and I had to park it somewhere so I figured it be fine. Jim knows someone who passes the car so he would have it done.(which he never did)

Basically I have no idea what to do. In a perfect world I would want the car running decent and I would just drive it. At this point idk I was going to go look at preowned cars but now have to cancel since Jim can't even give me the $3k

Do I get the car back and get it running. Do I wait for the him to pay me something or do I get the car back and sell it. Im so confused.

I talked to a judge who said I can't really sue him bc I lost the original paper that said the deal we worked out. I know Im the asshole in this but you have to understand I trusted him and I loved him I never expected this at all. I thought he was a better person. I am a good judge of people and he had me fooled. I now understand people who go on Judge Judy.

My brothers best friend is a cop in his town so he is getting in touch with him to see if its worth me calling the car in stolen since its in my name and he has it.

Please any advice would be great. Tell me what you would do anything. Please refrain from calling me stupid or telling me how dumb I am for letting him buy it and have it nd blah blah....I understand that thats why I came here...to vent.

Also Im not waiting for his to get me the 3k bc 2 weeks will turn into 6 months.

Though I am a stranger to all of this I hope Im not to much of a stranger to you. I hope things work out and will continue to have faith and good hope in ur situation. I'm truly sorry to hear that you are in this situation. I know we have never met but I remember the days of 6gc chat and when the Northeast Coast had the best Celicas on 6gc, and how much I looked up to those cars. Supershannon without a Celica just isn't right, natural, proper, and is probably the cause of global warming and teen pregnancy. I say you get YOUR car back, the one that still legally belongs to you, and you know we'll help you get it running properly. There's a wealth of knowledge here and whether it's a local member helping you out or simply you posting each individual issue in this thread, you can get the car running yourself and learn a lot in the process.

So he gave you a deposit on the car, but you still have the actual car?
You should sell the car to someone else (or keep it) but forfeit his deposit if its been this long and he has not paid the remainder of the price of the car.

He has the car. I have been texting all night where the key is bc my spare does not start the car for some reason.

I would love to keep the car but realistically I am not sure if I can.

When I did all the work to the car I did it to keep the car and to happily drive it. I never did any of the work thinking wow hopefully I can sell the car for more now. I never had any intention of building and selling so its sad for me.

I share the same feelings about your celica, and your membership here. As others said, one of the few I was looking up too when I first joined this site some years ago.

If you have that title, call the bad boy in stolen and give Jim a bit of his own medicine. Its time he pays for what he has done to you, and this community. He is a snake oil salesman, and I personally would love to hear of further misforture for him, on top of losing you.

Deposit is just a deposit, so his lack of payment makes the transaction void!

Well..I can't get into the details if today but basically I got a new battery and the car started right up. I have it now and will start the progress of getting it in tip top shape.

I'm making progress it's so nice! One question. I found he problem with my sunroof. It's the drain to it. I've been trying everything to unclog it with no luck. Any ideas. I've used air feeding wire down.

Yesterday: I had to work yesterday but I was freaking out bc I had sent Jim a bunch of texts asking where the keys are..None were answered..surprising. I know that Jim is known to leave keys in cars so I figured mine were in the celica.. I asked my manager if I could take some time to go get the keys. She approved so I headed to where the car is and on the way who do I see pass me...Jim. I was nervous bc I knew he was leaving from where the car was and I was nervous that he was there to take the keys. A little side note...Jim told me the other day he couldn't get me the money or keys bc he was on vacation for 2 weeks. I guess his definition of vacation is working.

I get to where the car is and the keys are their but I couldn't start the car so I took the battery and the keys. After work I got a new battery and went with my brother and the car started right up. When I found the car it had his work stuff all over it which scratched the car up a bit..also he left the window open(in a garage) so plant of bugs mad my car their home and made a mess of the interior.

Today: The battery is aye ok! Fixed it back up looks like it did when dustin finished it. I had to fix the car alarm it's been broken for ever..that is now fixed thanks to my brother bc what ever I did ended making the car go crazy just kept unlocking and locking the doors over n over and wouldn't stop..haha. I believe I fixed the sunroof I had to clean the inside of the car really well today it took forever bc of the window being left open. I still feel like I made good progress bc that alarm has been annoying me forever! The car isn't inspected so I haven't been driving it around much. I need a bit of body work. I still have to give TLC to the outside of the car though. Also, I noticed that I only have one TRD side skirt on so Jim has one and I am pretty confident I won't be getting it back

I believe that soon enough the car will be right where it should be maybe, at that point i'll drive past Jim's house just smiling and waving. I will try and get the pictures of the car how I found it up.
