Celica's Fuel Economy - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #73338 119 posts Started by vile_v
Alright I hope this clears up any misconceptions on what our cars >> was>> getting. Some of the people on this board have gotten outrageous fuel economy, which in turn has discourage other members into believing how bad of a condition their car is in.

First off, fuel economy has many factors that effect it. Some of these factors are age, health, weight, how you drive, model (to some degree) So please take these things into consideration when reading this chart.

I hope this information has been of some used.

*This information was taken from Toyota's specification sheet. I was able to duplicate it with rights, while I was a part-time parts representative.*

Its not my typical DIY but its pretty damn useful. aha

- my celica was getting 12.8L/100kms (I had a half a dime size hole in the front pipe) it was recently replaced with another used pipe. I am now getting 10.8L/100kms mixed of highway and city driving + lead foot aha LESSON TO LEARN: FIX YOUR EXHAUST LEAKS!!!

nice info! turns out that my car actually gets numbers around there. we get spanked by integras with the standard b18b with fuel economy and our cars arent any faster =(
I only ever get as bad as 10.5 If I use ****ty fuel and floor it everywhere if I use good fuel and drive normal I get 9 litres per 100km.
great stuff, will see if we can get the 3S-GE/BEAMS and the 3S-GTE fuel usage. and should be added to the sticky section for future reference smile.gif

i usually do 600 km with 47l, so an average of 7.8l per 100 km. i drive half city/half highway everyday.
my record was a little over 800km with 55l, 3people inside, trunck loaded to max, so an average of 6.8 l/km.

The 2011 mustang gets 19/31. Most fuel efficient 300 horsepower car ever produced. You fail D-man!
I only get 28mpg with my '95 ST! WTF

taking too long to mod since '09June '12 COTM'95 AT200
How do you guys measure this?
fill your tank then drive 100 miles then fill your tank again , note the amount of gallons you had to refill with, then divide miles by gallons and it will tell you your mpg smile.gif

anddd the 2011 v6 mustang weighs 3580lbs with a 180 pound driver..and the celica ST is like what, 2500lbs? come on now are we really going to argue this?
esp when my old 94 mustang 3.8 v6 got 16 mpg city with a 10 gallon gas tank.. ya 160 miles to a tank, which is y i drive a celica now lol.

oh and the 2011 v6 mustang runs 14.33 on the 1/4 mile with 240 stock rwhp.. not to bad out of a 3500 pound stock v6 that has 19/31 mpg at 305 hp biggrin.gif im a mustang guy by heart woot.gif

Heres the thing you have to consider "thruway" mpg. In my case highway is 55 and thruway (depending where you are) is 65. If I drive at highway speeds I can get over 40mpg or around that, and if I drive at thruway speeds I can get high 30's. with a small amount of city driving, along with going up and down mountains, added with going about 70mph I was able to travel 300+ miles on about 9-10 gallons of fuel, so I avg. a little more than 30mpg. Anyone has similar results?

I have gotten up to 600 miles on a tank with around 200K miles on my car, that's an average of 37.3 MPG

NYp8tBaller07, I get about the same mileage as you when I travel from Midcoast Area in Maine to Boston for school on the interstate
i always get 31mpg hwy. I always get around 430ish miles until the fuel light comes on.

my car has 213k miles now.

God made man....Everything else...Made in China
I get like 320 miles until my gas light comes on. Then when I fill it it takes about 12 gallons.

320/12 = 26.7

That's about what I get during the summer but right now I'm below 300...damn cold weather.

Has no more Celicas
i got about 450 out of a tank, thats with a 97 automatic. that spreadsheet you got, i would post that everywhere i could!
Holy hell, I'm getting the ST version smile.gif
37mpg highway.. gosh that is such total and utter bullcrap.

I got a 98 manual and the best I ever got was about 30mpg highway driving down in Florida and I was driving highway for hours at a time.

I usually get about 26-29 mpg 75% highway 25% city.

37mpg is total bullcrap. No way.
Just went to Flordia, from SC.

8 Hour drive.

443 mile trip. 12 gallon tank, perspectively 36 miles a gallon. Got to the hotel on fumes, but made it.

159k on engine, no major changes to engine. Big speaker enclosure in the hatch. Manual Trannie.

Went between 65-75mph whole way.

I know this is for real, being I charge my employer mileage, and get my gas receipts paid back.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the tank is 16 gallon. So you were getting 27-30 mpg which is typically what I get.
Wow I'm pissed. My 94 5s only gets about 24-25 average. I've replaced filter, plugs, plug wires, coil, and distributor rotor......FAIL.
necroing the thread. My GT with a hole in the flex pipe gets around 26-27 light foot driving.... mostly city.... need to get that hole fix....
ill try and contribute my mileage on beams motor once I correct my air/fuel ratio issue. I heard it was somewhere around 22 city and 30 highway???

hmm i have never been able to put more than 13.5 gallons in mine, i guess it means i can drive on E alot longer then i thought
do not drive your car till its gets to e or until the gas light shows up. It's recommended by the manufacture of all car companies to keep your gas tank filled above the quarter line. This way your fuel pump is always being cooled by the fuel inside the gas tank!!! or else your fuel pump will eventually seize over time...

3rd gen 3s-gte.

While cruising normal, average of 10 liter per 100 km
Normal cruising, with traffic-light sprints 12,5 liter per 100km
Fast cruising 20 liter per 100km
Averages of city and highway together

These are factory specs:
At 90 km/h: 7.5 liter/100 km
At 120 km/: 9.4 liter/100 km
City: 11.6 liter/100 km

I guess I have to change my driving style biggrin.gif
