I'm trying to get my step dad convinced to rally, but the trees scare him haha. he's down to race, he just wants to circle track it though lol
I'd love to get into it but I don't have any rally competitions anywhere near me nor do I have the funding. Besides, you can't talk about not being a BAMF when you laugh about putting your car in a ditch when all the rest of us would flip out.

You're only about 3 hours from 100 Acre Wood. Closer than I am to any rally. 100 Acre is coming up in 3 weeks, it's a national race, all the big names will be there. Convince the wife, go volunteer to be a marshall. You get all the best spectator areas. Most of the people that get into it, start by volunteering and getting there.
The weekends are a lot of fun.
As far as laughing, well I was kinda pissed for a little, but they say that if you rally long enough its not a matter of IF it's WHEN (usually referred to rolling a car)

Circle track is boring stuff compared to this though.... Just tell him not to hit the trees.

Ahh man I wish I was there right now. Entry field looks awesome. Former WRC Driver, Block, Leo, Lestage, Higgins, lots of great cars there.
We maaay try and go next year. It's about a 12 hour tow for us though, and less than a month after sno*drift. Have fun! Take and post some pics in here, i'd like to see them.

Alright, I've got new front bumper/fenders after the damage from last race. Need to paint them.
I really don't want to paint the entire car, so i'm going to paint the roof what's already rattle canned blue, front fenders/bumper/hood/roof. I'm going to leave the rest white.
Any suggestions on good blue that would look nice with a two tone white? I was thinking something along these lines.

in my minds eye, this is going to look freaking awesome....... loving the blue front and top with white bottom and rear

Maybe make a line that flows with the pillar and top of the door and into the fender, paint what's below that white to match the rest of the car. Try and make a nice transition. That's just my OCD talking though.
2001 Miata LS 5-speed
Maybe i'll paint the lower sill blue, 2 white fender stripes should make it look better.
It's painted with a single stage paint so I wont attempt to wetsand and buff it, so it wont be a mirror like the rx7 paint, but it's a rally car. From 5 feet it looks almost the same. The single stage was a lot cheaper than a dual stage urethane by a few hundred dollars.

What did you use? OEM or did you go aftermarket? (MSD, etc)

I used OEM. I was able to use ToyoDIY, cross reference the part number for the 3sge and find out which cars in the USA use the same coil. I end up going to a pic-a-part and getting one off a 98 rav4 for like 20 bucks.
Here's the part:90919‑02209 According to some websites it fits my exact model, but I know for a fact that the distributor that came with my car, vs the 3sge were not the same. My distributor had an extra plug for the coil. The 3sge needed that part.

Pro tip of the day - if you start to get a misfire at higher RPMs that gradually starts to fall lower into the RPM range as the engine gets hotter and hotter - replace your coil pack with a new one.
