So I got a chance to sit down and do somewhat of a tally thus far:

1995 1MZ motor: $250
2000 Solara rebuild gasket kit: $100 (you can expect to pay more thou, I have a discount at a FLAPS)
1995 1MZ timing kit: $130 (list $200+)
Smaay's 1MZ mount:$200
mrWizard harness service: $200
2000 Solara MT rear exhaust manifold: $145 (list $170)
1995 ES300 ECU/igniter: $50
1993 4runner 3VZ-E flywheel: $65 new
2000 Solara flywheel/clutch bolts: $20 (list $30)
1996 ES300 AFM: $40 (thanks Kurt95GT)
FIPG: $14
Tuneup Parts: $100
3rd Gen GTE clutch cover: $75
Custom clutch disc: $127
S54 refresh: $200 (previously rebuilt, just a new 3rd synchro)
New trans mounts (all 3): $120
Kirkosaurus inserts: $55
New coil boots: $60
New rear A/F sensor: $80
New driver axle: $55
Driveshaftshop pass axle: $150 (eliminates carrier mount)

And I know I'm missing a bunch of stuff.

My impression thus far is that this is a not a swap for the faint of heart, both in skill and in money. I've been a tech for 13 years, and I find myself asking a new question every day. I rate it about a 8 on a scale of 1-10. You're gonna go over budget, you're gonna need to farm things out, and you're gonna hit bumps. DO NOT expect this to be a weekend thing like a BEAMS or a 3rd gen GTE. It won't be, you'll get pissed, and then you'll want to give up. I went in setting a goal of 60 days. It's doable, but will be close. Waiting for the farmed out parts is the hardest thing here, expect a month on the harness and two weeks for Smaay to make the mount. The first thing I did after getting the motor was send out for the harness service and Paypal Smaay for the mount. Custom parts take time, and I didn't want to be waiting for anything once it was go time. I'll have both parts just in time for the car to run.

Get on good terms with your local FLAPS and Toyota dealer. I cannot stress this enough. My parts guy at the dealer is also a member here, and if it weren't for him, I would be waiting a lot longer for parts I couldn't get anywhere else.

That's about it so far.
from my experience the poly inserts will ruin your oem mounts. your better off getting front lower poly bushings and keeping the new oem mounts without installing the kirk inserts.

Zero BEAMS here. Torque given. Poly mounts stay. I've chewed up stock mounts in 6 months with a 5S, I need something a little more robust.

Awesome lol another v6 thread for me to collect more valuable information from! Can't wait to see it come together
I'm guessing this car doesn't want a 1MZ after all. Issues abound.

More than likely, going to finish the swap to the point where it's a drop-in, and sell it. I over-extended the timeframe, and now the car goes, either in pieces, or complete. I made a promise to people I live with, I broke it, now it's my turn to suffer so to speak. I no longer have possession or access to the Celica, as it was towed this morning to an undisclosed location. Woke up, it was gone. I knew this would happen if the engine and transmission wasn't in the car yesterday. Can't be mad over something you knew would happen if you didn't follow through.

I'm in over my head with this car, with work, with life. Need to step back, simplify, and focus on what's important. Everything is getting sold or parted, and I'm starting 100% new. New clothes, new look, new place to live, new car. ****, I might even go back to daily driving my Jeep again. Actually pretty comfortable to drive.

Keep rockin' guys.
Well damn... I hope you can get back on the right track my friend. Best of luck to you.

Seconded.

Maybe taking some time to get yourself together is far more important than any car or swap, Justin. Do what's best for you in the long-term. Good luck and godspeed!

Has no more Celicas
I've been there and done that with the whole project car when it wasn't a good time to do it. Best of luck to you with everything.

I dropped off the 4runner flywheel today for machine work. It then gets bolted to the engine with the transmission and clutch. Basically, I will have a complete 1MZ swap for sale ready to go. I don't know realistically how much the swap is worth perse, but maybe someone can find some value in it.

I found out how the Celica was towed, and it was illegally done. I am in possession of the title, and the vehicle is registered to the address where I legally reside (and am also a part-owner of). I am in talks with the appropriate parties, and IF I can find a place for the car, I will get her back. It's obvious neither I nor my cars or tools are wanted at my residence, so this is where we stand.

I am in utter shock still.

I'm sorry guys, I failed you all as well.

And there is a time where it pays to have good karma.

I located the car, and was able to retrieve her with no issues. The car is going to my uncle's house, where she will have a nice warm bedroom.

I do have another issue however. My harness builder has gone MIA with my harness. A setback, yes, but I will get it done nonetheless.

Manny, Dustin, and Stef came through Sunday, and it gave me that shot in the arm I needed.

So yes, she will be completed, but I'm not rushing it.

I have now set a goal of completion by spring including bodywork.
Awesome news man, glad to see you've got a plan. I look forward to seeing the progression!

Glad to hear you a cool uncle that'll let you finish the car. Shame about the harness though. Best of luck on getting it done.

Well.... that was a very interesting turn of events... and a few planets aligning to get everything back together. Good luck finishing it off in at its new home smile.gif

I think she's liking the digs a bit. Got to clean her out last night, interior is pretty much metal and a dash. What a crapton of gunk there was! The carpet is now tan again, it was oozing brown juices, same with the headliner. Also filled up a shopvac with crap from UNDER the carpets. Did find $50 under the carpet though, which bought Arby's and beers for the crew

Next step is all damaged body panels will be removed and my rust free joints put on. Pretty soon she'll be a skeleton.
Staying busy and focused on the car is the name of the game right now. I now more than likely need to pull out of my ass $700 for a conversion harness, which is pretty much bodywork money I had allocated. Frustrating, yes, but it's only money. I might even attempt to do the harness myself and see where that goes.

I hope to at least drive her before winter, so that way I have that little taste of awesomeness to hold me over.

Big shouts to my uncle though, dude is a beast.

Heading there now to possibly mate the engine and transmission, and drop the whole shebang in!
You can do the harness yourself if you have both schematics and lots of patience.

I do have spare harnesses. I just don't want to spend $700 to get it done, that puts me at almost $1000 for wiring.

At this point, I think it safe to say I CANNOT reccomend MrWizard for harnesses at this time. What a shame, because his work is top-notch
why don't you just buy a lightweight flywheel? it'd probably be worth your while.
Oh, and did you check to make sure that the starter will work with that flywheel? The offset could be different on it, and it might be bigger/smaller than the stock so you'd have to mod stuff to get it to work.
Hey Kurt, who did your harness and wasn't it fairly cheap?

Had the backside of the flywheel machined. I can put 12v to it tonight or tomorrow once bolted up and see before I throw it in the car.

A lightweight flywheel is prohibitively expensive at this point unless the 4runner flywheel doesn't work. Not being cheap perse, but Iwant to see if there' lower-cost options.
