I believe this is in the stickies about under engine swaps that are impossible......

Mods please update to swaps that ARE possible. That is totally insane.

Your front spring rates have got to be stiffer to accept that thing I figure right?! Please release details as you go.
THIS is what 6gc has been missing lately! Pure, unadulterated, balls-to-the-wall innovation! I'll be waiting desperately for a start-up video!

taking too long to mod since '09June '12 COTM'95 AT200
the spring rates will most likely remain the same , its an all aluminum v8 , and only ways about 50 pounds more then the 3sgte and trans that came out ,i will handle that later on ,

The engine bay is huge, it's larger than my rx7 and I fit a 6.1 liter v8, with a front mount turbo in it. There should be no problems fitting it. The one problem he's going to run into is the steering rack location.

If he's using a Rwd transmission he's without a doubt going to have to move the rack and get into some serious bump steer correction. If you move the rack too far and have to correct it a lot, it'll probably drive like poopoo, very 'soft'. Will be interesting to see how he does it, getting the engine in there is the easy part.

What transmission do you plan on using?

correct steering is the issue the motor is in there on my engine stand means there is no subrame , which also means i can move it back a few more inches, the steering is really my one and only concern, the engine bay is huge lots of room the supra subframe would be to narrow in the mounts and would loose space , and also have to run rear sump and would also cause issues with steering shaft even getting to the supra loacation , gunna lookin into either a tubular subframe of sorts with parts of stock subframe , pretty much just the control arm and tube out all center ,,, i am going to look into the possibility to swap knuckes side toside and check steering angles , as this would put the steering arm on the front and move the rack down and forward under the pan by my measurment , not looking for a track car just something fun for the street , i have thought and planned for mosto of this for the last 6 months ,
supra rear subframe and diff with w58 trans , think it will be fine in a lighter car like this ifnot i will change it

Wow A++, cant wait for vids.. Which supra did you get the drivetrain out of? Because idk if id trust a mk3 w58 with the instatorque of the 1uz.

i have a mk3 supra mainly for the subframe , i got the car for 200 so even if the trans isnt up to the task its ok cause my main concern is getting the car up and running and fix what doesnt survive later i have my doubts on it also but the r154 is bigger and cost a bit more i am sure i will endup there eventually
Yea I guess that works. The mk3 w58s seem to start to start whining (called the whine-58s) with anything over 300hp. Also the NA rear end isnt the strongest. Regardless I'm glad someone in the Celica community is finally doing something different.

Are you planning to convert to dual wishbone suspension all around?

This post has been edited by SupraKid: Mar 23, 2012 - 1:45 PM
i have looked into it for sake of steering but by my measurements so far the cradle would have to be spread bout 4 inches or so and that would increase track width beyond the fenders , the upper a arms mounts sit outside the rails so spreading is the only way it get it to sit flush or drop the cradle bout 3 inches to make it claer and the the install wouldnt be near as clean , i also have the option to switch toa newer w58 which i know they have had better luck with , plus its in a lighter car then say the supra or ls400s and sc's people are swaping into normally with this motor
Yea I remember comparing the mk3 suspension to the celicas dimensions a while back and coming to the conclusion it just wasnt worth it. I suppose with a w58 and smallish tires you wont have traction anyway, so the w58 should survive. How are you going about the shifter hole location?
the shifter location is still a mystery to me as i havenet got everything bolted together and measured up , and i moved the car out of my shop to my house so its on hold while i finish my other truck up

I can't believe that's possible. I can't wait to see the end result of this. All that's going through my mind is, "drift drift drift drift."

I'm in to see if this is possible... When I measured for the 7mgte-r154 tranny combo the shifter hole came up in the center console, so I would imagine the 1uz-w58 would be around the coin holder....
