You know you own a Celica when... - 6G Celicas Forums

you know you own a celica because besides a swap or repair (because lack of aftermarket upgrade parts) theres not much needing to do on the car so you are always on the forums posting.

Indeed, aftermarket for our cars sucks royally. Makes me want a Honda, at least then there's an infinite amount of small things that can be done.

thought about it Gerald, but I am still hoping to get a Supra again, had two older gen supras, now i have two newer celicas. I still need to get a new 4-runner, and new 4door truck then my supra next year. I dont care if its an old car, i had the models of the supra that were too old but were fairly new when I had em. My 2 story house construction build is killing me....but yes you can say i was thinking the FR-S just as the 7gcers are. but then again i'd prefer the original FRS concept model that had nicer lines. I just think we look to the next awesome toyota model really. To me i just hated that Toyota who owns 16% of Fuji, who owns subaru partnered up for the BRZ

Well it's true. Aftermarket is terrible for our cars, and anything in general that's not a Honda. I don't see why all the aftermarket companies cater to Honda only for the most part.

hey francis i really like the supra but i'm too cheap to pay for the extra gas since i drive a lot. plus i really like what the FR-S stands for and the partnership with subaru doesn't bother me because it was the only way toyota would acquire a boxer engine without going through the R&D. for sure my next car is going to be RWD and when i drove the IS300 which i see it as a luxury supra NA, i liked the torque but was too heavy to throw around to have fun in. i thought about getting a supra rz manual as my next car since they are really cheap to import from japan (~$15k all in) but i no longer have the tools and a garage to work in to do repairs and modifications so i'm thinking of getting a new car with warranty. if i could get a toyota 86 from the philippines in LHD form, i would, but i'd have to check on a few things if there's a loophole in the system to get them over (ie. label it as a scion) wink.gif. otherwise, i'm actually thinking of a BRZ limited for the extra bells and whistles but since i just got my gt-four i plan to wait a year or two to get one especially after all the bugs have been worked out. i just saw a white one the other day and it looked gorgeous from behind smile.gif. now, i just can't wait to have one.

id love to see you hook up an FRS, theres already a TRD, Modelista, and Toms kit, im more in favor between the TRD and Modelista kit, but more towards teh modelista. Im actually going back to the Philippines again in September, yea I know i just came back this August but i did not see any Toyota GT86's around there. but toyota and subaru is still ok with me, more mad that it became a scion not a toyota. anyway toyota owns like percentages in Toyota, Lexus, Scion, Daihatsu, Fuji (Subaru), Isuzu, Hino motors, and nicely DENSO and AISEN.

howcome you no longer have a garage and tools? but yea make sure you send me pics once you get it, I already see the left hand scion 86s running around me here on Guam.

yeah, and your right. and i cant figure it out either, it must have to do with the popularity of the celica's in japan. I just dont like hondas, i had a 2005 honda civic, sold that cause i could never get comfy in (of course i only bought it for like 2,000 and sold it for 6500 so made 4500 lol). then bought a corolla and loved it more.

rofl

took my car into town last night with a fellow 6gc member and the first thing i hear is a honda reving up on us. So I just pointed and laughed at him.
When you have god damn broken tabs on the headlight assemblies. Seriously who at toyota thought that was actually going to last more than 3 days.

I've had 16 lights and only two have all their tabs.

just like the corollas, its probably a good money savor and also "the less metal, the better the gas mileage!"

I'm not big on Honda either. Only one I'd want is the Civic VX, and that's just for its crazy good gas mileage. Maybe the S2000, but for what those cost I can think of other cars I'd much rather have. Had thought about the Integra for some time, but meh... I've seen some in person and they don't look as well built. That's the one thing about Toyota vehicles, at least of the 90's and earlier, they're just such well built vehicles. Especially next to a Civic, Sentra, Mirage, and definitely the Neon and Cavalier/Sunfire. The Celica for being a small car and only weighing some 2,400 pounds feels very sturdy and strong. I really wouldn't consider any other FWD vehicle.

Im not big with honda's either, or their owners for that matter. They just seem so obnoxious and act like they're hot shots because they own a honda with a motor that sounds like my lawn mower. Its sad really. As for the cars, the only model that catches my eyes is the integra, but not by much. I would never change my 94 celica or my trusty 95 corolla for a honda or acura badge ever.

Honda, to me is for fuel economy above all else. Which, is really how I feel about any FWD car to be honest. More so with the Honda vehicles though, at least the Celica handles nicely enough. I agree, all the Honda owners into "tuning" are annoying as Hell. All the other brands have cars I like, aside from Mitsubishi which I have nothing but hatred for. Of course Toyota had the Supra, MR2, RWD and AWD Celica, then the RWD Corolla. If I had been thinking I would've opted for an AE86 when I was car searching. Gets like 1 mpg less than the ST Celica, same power, a little lighter, and puts the power to the right wheels. That or go with the AE85 for a little less hp and carbureted(yay simplicity). Oh well, you know what they say about hindsight.

You know you own a Celica(or maybe you're just severely OCD) when the car doesn't run exactly as it should so you keep messing with it.

you know you own a celica when someone mean mugs you, and when the light turns green you take off like your racing for pinks!

I read that wrong... I was thinking, "if someone mugged me, I'd run them over, not race them..."

Also, on Hondas, tell me I'm not the only one that ****ing hates how the auto shifter always drops to D3 instead of regular drive... I mean wtf. And between the years of 92 and 97 (possibly earlier too, can't remember) they put the ****ing rotor behind the hub on accords... So very time you have to change a rotor, you have to take the hub or bearing or both off... Wtf. ****ing sewing machines they are... /rant

You know you own a celica when sometimes you just need to go for a long drive on a winding road to settle your nerves.
