ohhhhhhhhhh yess! i'm loving her to death already!

picked her up for a pretty great price IMO...

she has 145k miles. 5 speed. GT. no rust anywhere,
and i didn't even notice until today but she has the Ghost emblems i believe they're called... Black, instead of silver or gold...

only issues with her that i have to adress within the next couple days is the windows seem shaky going up and down, and the
rear driver side window doesn't like to go up all the time.... i had to wiggle the button until it would go up but it finally did!

and the radio is stock and trash along with the front speakers , they don't even work haha.

also, what would be the cause of a small puddle in the trunk.... i noticed it when i opened it up last night getting gas on the way home from buying her. it was raining pretty good. is there a normal leak area or just mine. ha

Got a couple little things today to do a mini tune up!
some rain-ex wiper blades, a fram tough guard filter, and some penzoil 10-w30 oil! oh and some GUM-OUT

Yeah he was like what kind of chevy do you drive and I was like I drive a chevy Celica my friend. He continued to tell me how I couldn't use it in my toyota and I just said are you a mechanic? No. Your a cashier at advance auto, so could you just order what im asking for .. he didn't like me too much!

Sweet! I bought a '97 black 'vert in October. My only problem is I can't stop driving it.

I check my carpets after each heavy rain, and haven't found any water in the the rear quarter panels, or under the spare. I tend to be OCD-ish about that sort of thing, but so far it's been fine. Maybe the gasket around the trunk lid is allowing water to leak in.

not much new news, other than the turn signals and sidemarkers are tinted black now.









but bad news is, i have the dash torn apart because i was replacing the stock stereo with my double din kenwood touch screen and i bought the harness i was told i needed from my car audio shop in town, and low and behold it does not match up to the single white conector that came out of the stock player.

never had to deal with this in a 4 speaker set up. guessing it has to do with the amp and connectors. its all sorts of ****ed up. hating life at the moment haha.

I installed a Pioneer touchscreen HU in my '97, and used the RCA plug harness that Crutchfield supplied. I had to make about 5 wire splices after plugging the RCA's into the back of the HU, and that made life much easier. I ran the HU through the stock amplifier BTW. That harness is $10, but I'm sure there are shipping costs of a few bucks.

P.S. After reading nightmare stories about using the stock Celica amp, I was pleasantly surprised that I never had to touch the thing with the Crutchfield harness. Just wire the harness to the HU (and plug in RCA cables), and then plug adapter into the single white stock harness. Very Quick and Easy!

well good news, i took back the old harness and luckily enough they had the amp integration harness in stock!
i talked over a few options with him since my front 6.5s and tweets are blown,
and i decided on putting in 8" woofers in the doors, new tweets, and new 6.5s in the back , and my two 10s in the trunk.
going to have the 8s running off of a 300 watt amp, and the tens running off the 800 watt amp i have,
and the tweets and 6.5s will be running off the factory amp.

i can't wait to take that project on because i will be changing out the nasty tan carpet with new black carpet as well...
but in the mean time here are some new pictures! (;

where are u getting the carpet. do not, i repeat, do not buy an aftermarket carpet, it does not fit, i wasted 300 usd there, and wasted 100 more buying a used one from a coupe...

i ended up forking 500 for a new one, and it was the last one from toyota

Now this is what scares me about my '97 vert. Key parts that aren't available, or over-priced. I had to stop at a store last weekend, and my wife went into a pizza place. I came back, and she had a sloppy slice of pizza and a HUGE soda in the cup holder! I dumped half the soda out, and put a paper towel under the cup. My carpet is in primo condition, and I'd like to keep it that way.

I wonder if you can have custom carpets done. I've seen older/rarer cars restored, so there must be hope. Either that, or I'll grab one of the zillion Miatas I've been looking at.

P.S. Nice stereo! I have to run a wire from the adapter to the car's plug to dim my screen at night. Crutchfield sent me the wiring diagram, and I just have to pulled it out one last time.....

That's what I keep telling my wife. We've been debating whether to sell the Celica, and buying a Miata. I'm 6'1", and the newer Miatas fit me, but the goofy grill is too much. I have the Celica on CL, and have several people interested. I just like the backseat, and I put a lot of TLC in the car already.
