thats the size im thinking of getting^^^,how do they handle,feel,look,etc?

ive had the 3 most popular sized tires for a 17" rim for our car. 205/40, 215/45 and now the 225/45.
the 225s are by FAR the best handling, best feeling tires ive had so for.
i love the look as well. it really fills up the wheelwell much better, and gives it tough, track ready look as well.
i will never buy a smaller set of tires for a 17" rim on this car.

I've had 3 different tyres on the car

With 3S-GE:

215/45/17 Avon ZZ3: Last quiet a bit (20k miles) and had good overall grip.

With 3S-GTE:
225/35/18 Toyo Proxes T1-R: The tyres are pretty soft compound and worn after 8000 miles. But this set was only used in the City and only a few (cruising) miles on the Highway. And I'm always in 'Race Mode' laugh.gif Best grip tyre I've had. Cornering is great and tyres never squeek. Only disklike is the 35 wall therefore the next set will be a 225/40/18.
Since the Goodyears are now in the back. My 'rear set' Toyo's are now in front and I've done about 12k miles with them and probably do another 5-6 with them.

225/40/18 Goodyear Eagle GS-D3: Because the local tyre company somehow couldn't deliver the Toyo's in 40 sidewall I ordered the Goodyears. They where compared to the Proxes in many ways by other people who had them. Boy I was wrong. Traction and cornering is a lot worse with these tyres. These went into the back and will stay there untill there fully worn and I will then replace them with the same size Toyo's

But all considered:

I wish I never got 18". Tyre's are more expensive, ride is worse and overall grip/performance could be better with 17". Therefor I'm considering purchasing either:
C-one SA70 rims: 17x8J ET32
Work CR Kai Bronze rims (middle taper): 17x8.5J ET38

But this will not be done untill this tyre set is worn and I finally made up my mind smile.gif

215/40R-17 and I can't wait to replace them. Hate 'em. I will be following above advice and going with 225/45-17 at the end of the summer.

winter -> 195/60 R15
summer -> probably 205/50 R16

the streets in Prague, CZ (Europe) are not so good as i want them to be, so choosing 17" rims would result in bumpy and hard ride, the suspension will also suffer a lot
wider tyres are also causing loss of acceleration
i would rather like to buy some lightweight rims, but i cannot find this important information in the rims description frown.gif
any suggestion where to look for lightweight rims please?

235 35 18

i got 18's for the look not performace (7a woo hoo)

toyo t1r's are great tires for the money and ive had them on a few other cars that actually could get out of their own way and i love them. i have abotu 10k on my set now and have about 60-70% tread left on them from eye balling it, wanna say reads 6 on teh tires gauge (new was like 8 i think)

any kind of perfomance dont go with 18's, but the wider wheel is awesome in the rain =)

you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!(2:27:32 AM) edit: please f*cking work, f*ck, sh*t, piss(2:28:08 AM) edit: that did the trick
What would you recomend for celica 01 gts 16s on a 3sgte engine swap?

any suggestions on the gts rims(gen.7)????

How do you like those? I'm getting new tires this summer... hoping to actually make it to the end of the summer w/my current ones even though I hate them. I had high-end Toyos on my 4Runner and loved them. How are they on the Celicas?
I wouldn't recommend them for a summer tire. my next set will be general exclaims
195/65R14 Yokohama H4s stock wheels... yokohama's are the best tire for the money. sell em' everyday no comebacks.

sorry, I didn't get a chance to mount up a 245. But I'll try to measure and figure out how much room we have to play with and I'll let you know the results.

I got the BFG G-Force Sports in the stock 205/55-15 size. Those tires are so grippy that if I ever did slip while driving on them, I'm sure I'd have to chip the asphalt off! Smooth ride, too! smile.gif
