Finally got a chance to get my car up on the dyno last weekend. Made 460 whp, 465 wtq at 20 psi. Strong numbers for stock twins, especially given 75% humidity.





First run was 456 whp, second run was 462 but the printout says 460. No use crying over 2 hp.

That car is very beautiful. It's everything the celica isnt. If the celica was factory rwd I wouldn't know what one to choose! I've never been in a 400whp+ car (270ish Hondas is the fastest for me) I bet it slams you back in your seat. If your ever in ohio I'll give ya 20$ for a ride and a photo hahaha.

Those do seem like really good numbers for a mostly stock setup, but what's with the Alabama level of humidity though? Even my comparably mild Firebird will throw you back, so I'm sure his Supra definitely does. Start taping an $100 to the edge of the dash and see if people can grab it before you leave second gear.

Forgot to specify earlier, this isn't my daily setup. This was with half a tank of 93 octane and half 110 so I can run full advanced timing. Apparently the 2JZ runs pretty advanced timing and pulls timing back pretty hard on pump gas. Along with that, I'm able to turn the boost up past my daily setup. I daily the car under 18 psi, but I've seen people turn it up as high as 23 psi with pump gas. I stayed conservative and only turned up to 20. That's past the turbos' efficiency range and makes good torque but not much more power, not to mention they can only handle so much abuse. Another thing to note is that the dyno isn't a true representation of my power curve, only peak power.

JMK, if the Celica had a RWD option, it would be my choice hands down. The Supra is a great car but the Celica is lighter and easier to chuck around a corner. My Supra won't throw you back in your seat though. The sequential twins bring on the power very smoothly, so much so that I was stunned when it dyno'd at 460 whp. That's exactly where it SHOULD dyno at, given my current setup, but I still didn't expect it to actually be that high. It hauls ass but it's never violent.

Box, we always have high humidity up here. Today was 90%, nothing out if the ordinary. If I taped a $100 bill to my dash, I'd lose $100. I don't make the same power in the lower gears that I do in the higher gears. Since there's not as much load on the engine, the turbos just don't spoil the same way as they do in the higher gears. The car isn't slow to 60 but it's definitely not fast either. It pulls harder in 4th than it does in 2nd. So basically, I've got no way to keep my $100 on the dash.

At this point, I'm due for upgraded intercooling. The stock side mount is still efficient.... assuming all the fins were still intact. Plus it'll be nice to get some hard pipes to replace the stock soft pipes. Still need to focus on suspension before even thinking of more power.

Ahh, so it was a number bragging run. Yeah humidity sucks, even on an otherwise cool day humidity can make it miserable. I guess it's a matter of power delivery, in that case make it for 4th gear pulls only.

What kind of boost controller are you running? I just got off the dyno yesterday with the four. Numbers were pretty dismal (231whp & 264wtq) My boost controller was faulty though, not staying calibrated and wouldn't hold boost. If my luck runs well, I will be back on the dyno this weekend with a HKS evc 5 instead of the faulty GFB2 EBC.

Pretty much. I was going to dyno it at my daily numbers, but.... It was a dyno shootout. Everybody else was turning everything up, so I was obligated. Plus "f*** you" numbers are always nice to have. I'm planning on doing another dyno run later to get my daily numbers when we aren't on limited time. That way I can get my AFR's, true daily driven figures, and an accurate power curve. The one on my chart shows no boost until after 4K, as the guy in the car held the throttle steady and floored it about when both turbos come online. So basically my graph is accurate after a certain point but a better test would have been to hold steady at like 1,500-2,000 rpm and floor it from there.

I'm running twin NXS MBC's, a standard NXS on my EBV to control the first turbo and an NXS Signature series on the wastegate. No real complaints about either one, but they're both just standard manual boost controllers with no frills. Your EBC should give better response than my MBC's. What kind of dyno were you on? Temp/humidity? Those numbers are nothing to sneeze at, even if they weren't what you were expecting!

It puts you back in the seat, but it doesn't throw you back, if that makes any sense. It's such a smooth power curve that it doesn't keep you pressed into the seat. It does, however, like to squat pretty damn hard on the rear suspension and need a grippier tire. As Supra owners, we know that digs aren't our forte, hence all the highway roll videos!

How fast does a 1000hp Supra run the 1/4 mile? 12 seconds.

I wouldn't say im very upset, but I wasn't all that enthused. It was a dyno-jet and pretty warm for my area @ 80deg & roughly 30% humidity. The controller performed so poorly that I made peak power and tq at 3,500rpm. After that the boost fell 5-9 psi and wouldn't hold. I am convinced the meth helped though seeing as every run got better and better as it got warmer and warmer outside. soooo I think you supra needs to become a drug user

Strange, Dynojets normally read higher than Mustang dynos. Your numbers wouldn't be too far off of Mustang numbers since they're always 12% lower. However, if you aren't holding boost then it's not a dyno issue at all. The temperature wasn't doing you any favors but it could be worse. I want to know what you'll make with the new EBC! Supra guys aren't big on meth injection for some reason. I haven't looked that far into it. They all prefer E85 or race gas over meth injection, although I can say from personal experience that race gas is a little more painful on the wallet.

In sequential set-up, the power is a lot more linear minus that odd dip when the turbos transition from turbo 1 to turbo 2, so you won't feel that sudden UMPH when boost kicks in like you would with a single turbo set-up. It'll just slip into your DMs. Also have to consider that the Supra is a pretty hefty car at about 3600#. Like Daniel said, the power will press you into the seat, but it won't throw you into it.

Setting the turbos into true twin should give it more of that kick that you're expecting, but it won't be enough to bring home to mama. My twins are currently set-up as permanent true twin, so I can't really comment the difference as that's how I arranged my turbos when I initially started my swap.

Not so much of an update as it is just me keeping track of the small things. Finally drained and refilled the rear diff and trans. Easy job, not expensive, but I don't think it has ever been done. The gear oil had quite a bit of metal shavings in it. Not an abnormal amount, but the car is 19 years and 91,000 miles old. Definitely should have been flushed by now. Trans fluid was free of metal shavings but still pretty old. While I was under there I decided it would be a good idea to change my trans mount. It's too easy to simply ignore, even if the old one wasn't completely worn out yet.






That's all for now. After this weekend I'm turning the boost down and focusing on freshening up the car. Again, nothing to update, just keeping track of the little things.

It's glorified ATF. Yet, some people still swear it's literally the only choice to fill the V160 with, despite all the evidence that it's just ATF, nothing more. One guy even sent several samples off for analysis and found that Castrol Transmax for imports as well as Toyota T-IV ATF are virtually identical and perfectly suitable replacements for V160 juice.

Should've gone with the TRD mount. don't recall if it's discontinued doe....

My tranny is 80% V160 jizz and 20% synthetic ATF. so far, no problems.

Do another change of your rear diff fluid in a few thousand miles to flush out the rest of the metal shavings. Rear TT diff ain't cheap. lol

Finally got rid of my aging side mount intercooler and got a FMIC.
