PROJECT - TOP SECRET - Engine updates - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #9998 63 posts Started by doGGy
Hey,

This weekend finally i had time (and my friend too) to work on my custom turbo Header. We started like 11.30 am, and both thought that this job will be easy... Yup, it wasnt... All thought about the design, everything that we where doing seemed wrong, and like spending WHOLE DAY just thinking how it has to be, BAM we finally worked somthing out. I wanted that piped of the header where as much equal as they could be. So, i hade to move my radiator in fron a bit, to have more place for my turbo. Anyway, pics say more that any word, so here ya go:

Damn dude, everything is coming along with your car, cant wait to see it when its all done!
WoW thats all i have to say for now....

probably too late to mention..... seeing how you have the pipes routed... (but would still be a good idea because of turbo heat)....

i would say get an oil filter relocation kit & move it away from there.... will give you more room and the oil filter won't be around the turbo

Looking excellent so far, just like the exterior. >smile.gif>

New Toyota project coming soon...
I dont' know if it was clear in the pics that I sent you, but all the 7a manifolds that I've seen angle the turbo slightly for clearance. My turbo flange is angled about 10-15deg relative to the engine. Looking pretty good so far.

Nice tack welding without a helmet >wink.gif>.

doggy,

is there not a shaft in that turbo?

i guess it would have to be out with the way you held up the turbo for positioning

and why is it that we dont have the same 4-2-1 exhaust manifold setup that you have?

"Looking excellent so far, just like the exterior."

I noticed you did the Exterior first, and also other people have as well. Is there any reason why one should do the exterior before engine work or interior work? I always thought it was better to work inside out to avoid any dings or scratches to paint or body.

Of course you would be more careful if you're doing it yourself but what about a body shop?

99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =)
Here we go again..... Worked whole sunday, cuz with the previus design i hade some problems with the oil filter (the header stucked on oil filter >frown.gif> ). Now i changed the design, bu the lenght of pipes stayed the same, avoided the oil filter problem (now the clearance is about 2 cm), and finally welded it. only thing is missing is the turbo flange... Run out of time.. So will finish it on next weekend.

Another news, if some of ya guys are interested in HEADER LIKE THIS, let me know, i can make 2 more header, so no more i think will be availible. let me know, price range is about 350$ for a header.

So now lets move on the pics:

I might be interested in getting one, but I've got a few questions. What type of turbo flange are you putting on it, like what turbo will bolt up? Does the 350 include shipping (if it doesn't about how much do you think that would be)?

Also, I'd like to see how everything fits in once you get everything put together and on the engine.

Everything looks awesome though, keep up the incredible work.

The flange that im going to use is for T3 Garett. The price is without the shipping, i have to find out the exact shipping price. let ya know. And yes, i will post pics of fittment and etc then im done with it.

Where did you find the part that bolts up to the engine? Did you make that or order it from somewhere?
