can you take any detailed pics of how the rear end is mounted? this would really help out others that are considering the same thing

well, if you really do get it working, it would be a HUGE help for anyone who ever thought about doing the same thing. it requires a good bit of fabrication, and it would be nice to see how that needs to be done.

ok i'll take everyone.... hell i will just take over the world
well if you take over the world then you won't need either of them cause you could just force toyota into producing you the only 06' celica GT4

or for that matter combine ferrari, toyota and subaru and make a supra GT4
well dustin, come and get me.... laugh.gif

sway bar problems......guess we'll have to go custom.
So, did you have to create the entire frame-supports for the ST205 rear diff assy, or did any of the mounting holes exist?

I know the ST has the mount hole locations for the center drive shaft supports (I received a drive shaft with my 205 clip), but I didn't think any of the rear subframe mounts for the were there (though I've never removed the gas tank). I do know the entire rear subframe is identical to the ST185's, as well as the rear axles. I replaced my 185's rear end with the 205's, only had to swap out the a-arms, since the 205 is about 2 inches wider in the back. Glad I held onto everything, I just might need to make my 6gen AWD to!

its not at all easy. i had the driveshaft and rear diff from the st185 for my car, and looked into mounting it. there are no mounting points for the rear, and you have to fabricate and weld in some type of bracket system to bolt the rear to.

we would know more about this, if someone (cough) was willing to help the comunity more and document his progress with lots of pics and vids, but i guess thats not going to happen.

hey,
well since i have st205 and have cut up a st204 you really need to weld in a complete floor pan from rear seats back .. the floor is 2 piece for this very reason all 94-99's are same from front of back seats to front of car .. also one thing that is often over looked is that the rear shock towers have a lot more bracing then a fwd car ..

to really do a correct job you really need a rear cut .. i know a lot of you have seen car in greece that was converted and he used entire rear of a st205 .. best way to do it right ..

you have a st205 in the states?

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.
yeah one of a handful in NA and me and guy from NH are only guys on this board .. my car is at shop in a very small town in iowa getting fixed which is why you have not seen a lot of it . anyway back to subject of thread ..

im curious to how you got it? when you say rear strut towers have more bracing than a fwd car, are you talking only about the st205 chassis, or do our fwd models retain that?

the interior panels of st205 trunk are a bit diff compared to st204 (fwds) there is bracing at base of strut towers and more you cant see ..

you could use just a new floor and use a thick strut tower brace i suppose .. i hate seeing half ass projects and if you really want a nice oem looking st205 w/ lhd then getting a rear cut or roof cut is really only way to go ... you need fuel tank as well otherwise you will need a cell mounted under car or in trunk .. might get in way when you want to throw some bags in trunk and not to mention potentially dangerous if not done right ..

btw .. speaking of half ass in pictue above ..should have got a full trailer instead of dolly w/ rear driveshaft unbolted ..gas mileage was 10miles a gallon .. and trip was 2200miles ...

Is that a shot at who I think it's a shot at? If so, I don't believe he's here to defend himself.

If not, send me a pm and I'll explain to you who I'm talking about.

i already mentioned to everyone that its not the easiest thing in the world to crawl under a car and take good pics of the underneath. i will do my best next time i go to work on it, but im not promising that they are going to be the best pics.
i want to see this thing updated
It's not even been a week... settle down.. he's very busy
i know, i get wound up over other peoples work because i have no cash right now to swap in a 3sgte or other cool projects, but i did install some "racing" pedal covers
