I think your install looks good, sorry to hear you had a lot of problems with it, mine went together really well. The hardest part was removing the box from the fender where the filter goes. Did you have to cut the hole bigger where the L shaped piece goes down into the fender? It looks like you have a lot of room there. My pipe just fit in the hole.
yeah, i had to cut the hole by A LOT. i think it's because when i first bought my car, it was in an accident and the motor shifted towards the passenger side. then when we pulled everything back again, the motor's probably still sitting more towards the passenger side than it should be. which is why i had to cut the hole more towards the passenger side in order for the L-pipe to go through it.

now that i think about it, i probably should have flipped the L-pipe using the longer side to connect to the S-Pipe and just cut it down to length, then have the shorter end to mount the intake on.

where did you get all your piping from...was it the 90 accord intake or did you get something else?

So what is wrong with the 94-96 Celica Cold Air Intakes on ebay? Do they not fit as well or somethin?

Also has anyone here with a 94 GT tried the 90-93 honda cai? JW before I go ahead and buy one.

I'm pretty sure quite a few people have used the same intake on the GTs.

And from what I've seen a lot of people have said that the celi CAI on ebay actually seem to put the filter closer to the headers which results in hotter air.

There's also a how to in the how to section about building your own ordering piping from the JCW site. Seems to run the piping a little close to the headers but looks like it might be easier than digging out the old box.

95st, you say you had to remove the wheel well plastic and you also say you bent it back. Did you just bend it or did you have to actually remove some plastic from the well permanently to get this to fit?

Nice work btw! smile.gif

good to know Redline. I was looking at those ChromeIntakes ones on ebay also. Sorry to hear it didn't work. : \

those intakes cost more than the honda accord cai and they are not worth crap man somebody should email them and tell them that the intake is not worth the trouble and they dont even fit right

um, i put mine on a gt. Just read through the thread, you will see wink.gif
x2, iirc these were originally only known to work on gt's, but they also work just as well on st's now
Well I just ordered one, but I'd rather have a blue cone than red. Does anyone know the size of cone I need to get?

"You should take a short walk on a LONG PIER"-Crazy SteveMy Celica's SRI
if you do it the way i did mine you dont even see the cone so it doesnt matter...it could be purple with pink poka dots an noone would ever know

how do you get a bypass valve for this intake?

"You should take a short walk on a LONG PIER"-Crazy SteveMy Celica's SRI
i didnt know if any of you know but injen makes a direct fit CAI for 94-99 celica GT's i have an 97 ST but it still fits mine was only 136 i think
^the one on your car appears to be a short ram, but if what you say is true, could you provide a link?
injen only makes a sri for our celica, but i still like it over a cai
Just got my CAI in today, it came in two pipes, and they had some dents and scratches on it. Is that normal for this ebay cai? Anyway I will be installing it soon, probably tomorrow when it is lighter. Does anyone know where the cuts need to be made or if I even need to cut the pipe? Thanks.

As far as the bypass valve goes, I can buy one, but where do you put it?

Edit: Does everyone's Ebay CAI have two little pipes sticking out? I know that for one, you have that PVC tubing, but there is a smaller pipe and I don't know what to think of it.

that smaller one is not needed, i just sealed it off.
the larger one is not needed as well, but what i did is i drilled out that larger hole to put in the air temp sensor in.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mine had one small pipe, not two. No dents, it was in great shape. I connected the breather hose from the valve cover to the small pipe using the stock hose that was already doing this. I drilled a hole for the air temp sensor.

Just read through this thread, there's a ton of pictures already.

what i don't understand is, doesn't the breather tube that goes from the valve cover already have it's own tube on the throttle body?

see the red tube?

if people are plugging this tube to the intake pipe, what are you using to plug the breather pipe on the throttle body?

I noticed that today when I took a look at it earlier.

The tube seems to already have a connection on the throttle body.

First S-shaped piece.

The pipe is awfully close to the brake fluid reservoir. Is there enough length after the s curve that you could shorten the manifold side of the tube a little to get more clearance?

Also, has anyone weighed a CAI and compared to the weight of the stock air box & intake components?
felt like it weighed less. why do you ask?

Just wondering if this would shave weight. I am in AZ so I don't think the "cold air" effect will apply too much here.

My primary concern is fuel economy. I am thinking about ditching the spoiler on my liftback, looks cool but is pointless.
