just a quick question have any of you guys actually been to Bastrop? My family owns some land down there and its not much of anything...I say you guys make it a weekend trip and goto Austin or something and do more than just drive around. Just my two cents. Also, Feb is going to be cold as balls, and isnt anywhere close to spring break. Let me just say as being from Austin there are some badass areas to drive in west austin and would be a much more worthwhile trip than good ol Bastrop. . .

i said bastrop because of the pine trees that are there and we all know pine trees are not a usual thing in central texas...
its beautiful out there and buscher(sp?) state park is right across the lake and have good deals on cabins...
2 bunk beds and a place for a tent for 60 bucks a night with working microwave fridge ect... and the cabins are right on the lake

Marble falls area is really nice, roads out there are awesome i actually have been out there quite a bit. Of course if i wanted to see the hill country its about 15 minutes from me same as in west austin, no pine trees though. "We must decide" we have time, lets keep talkin.

I kinda liked the cabin thing, tents are cool but a cabin is awesome. Lets find a place that has the option for both, i kinda like to have a place to wash up and brush my teeth without any hassle

Bucher (sp?) state park in bastrop has campsites that is a cabin with 4 bunkbeds and a place for a tent for like 60 bucks a night but you have to have them reserved WAY in advance

I'm planning on bringing my wife and kids so we will probably stay in a cabin. Mid March is fine with me, but I cant say for sure until the actual date gets closer. I am starting a new job Jan 2 and I'm going to be working shift work ( 4 on, 4 off ) so hopefully it falls during my off days.
As for prices and facilites, check the link below. Bastrop offers just about anything you could need, they even got a golf course yep I'm bringing my clubs along with my fishing pole.
Oh and I never was a boy scout but I do watch Survivor Man and I cant wait to try eating me some nice toasted grasshoppers
