4gen 3S-GE (148KW) a 2L 16v engine with VVTi with a red cover over the engine (toyota's version of VVT) +97

3gen 3S-GE (134KW)2L 16v with ACIS(which is a flash way of saying altering intake lenght) (what SS-II & SS-III had between 94- 97) although if you were to mod them to the max (without turbo/supercharger/Nos) they come to the same HP, since VVti is disabled in higher HP wink.gif

Thread hijackers!!!! tongue.gif

I just installed NGK BKR6EIX iridium plugs, the engine is a bit more revvy now, pulsing the throttle in neutral atleast its faster to rev up than before, out came some crappy Denso PK20's that looked like absolute crud with burnt away electrodes and white stains on the outter part, blew $85NZ on 4 silly plugs but i reckon they'll stay in good cond for the next 5 services which will pay itself off by then, must be time to compliment them with some TRD or magnecore leads eh?

I love SS-III I couldn't go back to no superstrut, no lsd, no 2 pot brakes and I never wanna own another celica with an FE head tongue.gif

NGK BKR6EIX, those NGK plugs are sweet, not cheap but pretty sweet. I had a 20% off voucher for up to $100 that cut the price down a bit which was good.

I would love to have an lsd but is superstrut that amazing?

the diff is amazing the amount of throttle you can give around corners easy and sharp without sliding forward especially in the wet

hmm might need to look at a TRD Helical LSD biggrin.gif

hey man, with your work under the hood, do you happen to have any [good] pics of the motor mounts?

~AndyTwin '95 3S-GE's - SS-III & Curren'08 Mazda3Axela i Sport -"Zoom Zoom"Check out my Droid Goodies|My Flickr
the only update from me is that i'm severely pissed off with some mean looking old woman who slammed her door into the side of my car and chipped my paint, i'm quite poor at the moment and cant afford to get it fixed right away but i dont want a source of rust to come up (to the left of my fuel door) and it's very frustrating because my park at home isnt garaged so theres either rain or frost on my car every morning.

but definitely get the lsd if u can, you'll love the amount of boot you can put down through corners though, the amount of steering ability that you retain under power is awesome. cant wait to see what you have in store for us.

nz celica power!!

i meant of while they were out (if you had done that...) one of the motor mount inserts i got looks a little...thick.

oh right I got you now, nope haven't changed my engine mounts, but one of my tranny mounts looks rooted, also how come there are no engine dampeners for our celicas?

ST202 SS-II CELICA threadNew Zealand members check inSticky thread's: How to contribute and troubleshoot.
a guy on mr2oc, kirkosaurus makes some for 3sgte/5sfe, i ordered some to see if they fit on the 3sge. only like $50 USD. i'll post up if they do or not. it's the front and back tranny mounts... i just call them engine mounts for some reason.

It's been a while since the last update, My SS-III is due to hit 81,000 kms next week and has recently received a Sony CDX-R3300S MP3 head unit, V12 1400W amplifier, Pioneer TS-W307D2 1200W 12in subwoofer and I have a little cannon shaped muffler which is going on when I get some free time from the welder.

I also modified the original air box so the pod filter could sit inside it with the box inlet port moved to the front piped down to a ram air scoop, still a work in progress, pictures next week...

sounds cool,
where did you fit the subwoofer? in a box or on parcel tray??

sweet, cant wait to see pics

Got MDF box, Unfortunately only has two banana plugs when it needs four! Will get that fixed soon and enjoy full power to my sub tongue.gif

As for the airbox, I need use my plastic welding skills to enlarge it a little more so the filtration surface isn't minimised by it touching the walls, and also reseal the back where I've hacked away the old box outlet port and the whole corner around it

ACIS project will be sweet too, I found the VSV funny enough it's just sitting there on the back wall next to the ignitor! All it needs is a charge above 4000 rpm and a circuit breaker below 4000 rpm

Update:

CAI box modification on hold now, I managed to get the vacuum adapter I needed from the scrap MR2 in order to install my aluminum SRI pipe, and now the CAI box doesn't fit at all so i have to get back to the plastic welding, but here's a photo anyways.

The motor sounds awesome, alot deeper growl than with the old rubber hose, doesn't constrict under full throttle.

Better picture here

dude, you seriously... SERIOUSLY need to change your image hosting service, or put up smaller pics. i have a pretty fast ADSL connection, and it's taking, well, been loading for an hour now, and still not done with your pics, when every other pic on this site takes no time at all. i just wanna see the work you've done and not have to sleep a night before i can see the pics tongue.gif

my acis throttles are constantly on short path now even more so with the sri.. off idle even ... anyhow this system I have in my hands right now is ingenious, It's a VSV I took from a wrecked MR2, I'm going to mechanically override the old vacuum routing with this frequency switch which I will hook onto the ignitor and set to my guess is around 4000 RPM and relay some ignition key switched power to this secondary VSV and engage the acis throttles, Cant wait!!! heres the part I need to complete this:

Custom RPM-adjustable ACIS controller project complete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Jaycar kit is all soldered together and functional, my secondary VSV is clicking open with power and closed on discharge like it should, I've got it set to come on slightly above idle to verify whether the ACIS throttles open correctly or not at the set RPM and they do!!! I found out the reason why they get stuck open is because when the VSV shuts off the vacuum is trapped in the line... So I used a plastic hose coupling and carefully placed a tiny half-millimeter hole in it (by heating up the wire in a twist tie and stabbing it through to the centre) so that the atmosphere could relieve enough pressure to close the ACIS throttles again without hindering their ability to open under vacuum.

Now I just need someone to hold my gas pedal on about 4400 (I'm guessing is a good figure) so i can dial it in and then off I go for a test drive!

Gutted,

what have you been doing to it?

hehe poor baby. ur car is gna b so gd wen its dne.
Reversing out of my driveway (up hill, narrow with obstacles) every day is what's done it, so gonna reverse in from now on and make more of an effort to let the clutch engage before I give gas. Nat's been hangin out with me a fair bit lately so I'm not completely Celicaless biggrin.gif:D:D I get people asking me how I got a spoiler and mags overnight now haha.

But yeah as I gotta just keep working on Celicas I'm doing to her car everything I've done to mine.. Intake, Dash/Ring LEDs (hers pink), Probably put in an oil catch, Get a 3" aluminum ram pipe, Once she's up to where I am I gonna template and build two CAI's.. She's onto Interior trims... blue for mine pink for hers.

ACIS mod would be cool too if she didn't have a stupid 3S-FE motor.

Still yet to document this properly, but once I get my car back with the new clutch I'll have it dynoed, videoed, pictured and documented.
