Still watching as well Mike.

I've always kicked around the idea of a 5SGTE BEAMS.... I remember seeing a video some years ago of a guy in Russia with one pushing 700hp. Sounds fun to me.

These are the things that keep me up and night. What to do and at what cost?

Ill probably just mess with the motor with a standalone. Thatll buy me some more time with the decision.

That’s why I went 2gr, plenty engines are coming out now, if I fry one, toss it and get another low mileage one. No rebuild, no waiting for parts, no headaches.

Loved the beams, but I also wanted more.

The K-series wouldn't be a bad option either. Some MR2 powerhouse guys are using it since it's good.
Gotta run the e153; but Hux has their adapter plate you can get to make things easier.
Still need a custom mount (or two, don't remember); but I can clarify w/ the 6gc guy up here who has it in his.

we have a couple of NSXs down here running 800-900HP k-series swaps in their cars. crazy ****.

noo i was hoping you would do a 250--270hp build n/a beams motor. its not cost effective, but its so rare and cool...

It’s like healthcare, get your runny nose treated or toothache in the Er, vs going to the doc office. It’s cool to put on Facebook, but not cost effective, gains nothing...

I'm currently in the process of building an NA beams redtop. The engine will be stroked and bored with bigger valves, ITB setup and other camshaft. I hope to see 270-280hp.
just looked up K24A2 prices....Jesus they are so cheap lol ~$700....I was going to spend that much on just the fuel surge setup....

Doesnt sound very track car friendly lol. Reliability is what Im kind of after here. The setup is pretty dependable right now. I would like to choose a path that will continue this trend.

yea synchronizing the trumpets/itb is a pain and needs constant tuning from what i hear. yea eff it bro type r dc5 swap it.

but that trd altezza set up that outputs 270ps is so awesome. id love that engine for a dedicated track car.

HAHA YES!
I still lurk too....not sure why...but definitely look here every time I login
inching closer to a plan.

Road Map

Going to keep the power upgrade simple rather than over-complicating it.

1: Fuel surge tank - ~$500
2: EMS - its looking like its going to be LINK ~$1600
3: Turbo or SC cooled by a W2A - OE compression ratio - meth injection or maybe a flex fuel (havent really looked deep into
flex fuel yet) ~$4000
4: Pretty Custom exhaust manifold ~$2000
5: Camshaft and head mods on the spare head I have sitting ~$2000
6: Decimate all ~$Priceless

7: Suspension Upgrade (Tein? Penske?) ~$4000 +/- Sponsorship
8: Aero ~$3000
9: Half Cage ~$3000

TOTAL - PRICELESS

its time for a new car!!!

sponsorship $ and discounts help a bit but yeah...lottery would turn this from a 4 year project to this year lol

A new car. Yeah. In a perfect world I would. I drove my buddies 350Z this past weekend and now I want a RWD car...but I dont feel like learning a new car lol so I might as well make the Celica a poster child for waste for $ on a useless platform lol

...which is why you buy a Miata, dump a lot less $$ into that, and still have the Celica.

You should buy a Supra.

yeah, the celica is a great car, and we all want it to be great, but its got limitations

Or get a Twin, they're good as a starting platform.
oh, I see a bunch of unwanted opinions. I better jump there with mine too.

You should get a 1st gen celica. RWD dorifto!

Limitations shmimitations

Id end up redoing what I have already done to the celica...to the next car I get. The only two things I battle with are the FWD and the Motor. One of which can be remedied with a quick switch of mindset and a K20swap lol. Drivetrain...Id sooner get a LHD ST205 than getting another car. Most of what I have could be transferred over lol

Oh man. Basically make an ST205 look like my car...so you wouldnt even know its and ST205. Thats what I want.

Miatas are the WORST. I get bang for buck...but not what Im going for. My buddy just sold his for a 350Z lol

Id do a billet block. Id do it.

I mean, I much enjoyed and miss the FWD characteristics, especially endless wheel spin in slippery conditions. The lightness of the rear swinging around under trail braking. I just think if you want real racecar, FR is the answer, and a FWD DD is a real fun distraction.

The worst. lol

first mod on my master plan of world domination has been completed.

Definitely wasn't able to keep it in the ~$500 range

Radium Fuel Surge tank with a Walboro 255 and an Aeromotive pre-pump filter all plumped with Earls Ultra Pro (the regular rubber hose is XRP) The earls ultra pro hose is soooooooo flexible. Im in love with this stuff.

I originally planned to tie into the fuel system at the connections neat the bottom corner of the fuel tank but running 4 lines was going to get reaaaal complicated. I last minute came up with an INGENUIOUS plan to just tie into the lines right at the fuel pump

This is how things look now (Ive since added a Fuel Pressure sensor in line)

mocked up

forever tarnished with holes

after all was said and done. Did a leak test (turn on the car and see if it leaks lol)
Besides the giant leak from above the fuel pump which was caused by me forgetting to completely tighten down a fitting, all I got was some seeping which was quickly resolved by using some AN aluminum crush washers.

i would like to chime in and I mean this as a suggestion, dont take it bad.

Make sure you have a leak proof system, or enclose that surge system in a fire proof cage. A fried of mine that tracks his car, just had a fire start in his car, and he had a 2 cm hole in the firewall that acted like a flamethrower.

It was an MR2 spyder, and burned his seat, he got away from car quickly. Car was a loss.

But that system there, just behind you, all that fuel, can at any time leak, even in an accident. you dont want a gas shower....

Make sure you have an emergency switch to turn off the fuel pump, and a cage/box for it that is fireproof..

Gasoline going everywhere isn't as fun as Zoolander would have you think.
