I Swapped 3s-ge Redtop Into 97 Limited Edition Vert. - 6G Celicas Forums

Congrats !

don't try to start it without the radiator, or any other fluids for that matter, be safe, it's a big investment. Just take your time and get everything together.
It would of been a bit easier to put the harness on the engine before you put it in the bay.

again congtrats !

my st205 swapandour Beams swap
what! hybrid axles?? what are you talking about? kindasad.gif

I remember somebody saying something about that a while back ago. Is it due to ss suspension on the SS-III

nope, i will use the inners from the beams and outers from my s54. The inners look more beefy. my swap did not come with complete axles.

will try to get the radiator set up then..

almost getting most of parts and waiting for good weather,

the interesting thing i found today is that the inner left half shaft for a 3sge beams is part

4304032010

for 1sttoyotaparts is Inner cv joint, celica, w/o turbo, gt-s, left 1986 - 1989, hmm interesting..

the inner right half shaft is 4303032010

Inner cv joint, celica, w/o turbo, gt-s, right, manual trans 1986 - 1989

but i could not find the outers.

I like to have the beams axles for my swap. but the axles were cut,

I was thinking i can do beams inners, and GT outers. (hybrid)

Wat u tink?

Or maybe look into some outers like some have done with the e153 tranny. Just thinking of building better axles.

It seems like I read somewhere that the GT axles could take up to around 300 ft. lbs. of torque, but I could be mistaken. Better safe than sorry, so I say carry on with the BEAMS axles if possible.

You are making excellent progress with this. You aren't that far from me. One of these days, I will have to make the short drive to Tennessee to see this in person!

wow, how long has it been, had not worked much until yesterday and today, here is an update.

To fix the heater core i had to get the dash out, and i had to disconnect a whole bunch of crap.

I will risk the heater core pipe, i was able to fix it, and I installed a new heater core,

also the whole dash is almost back in, the wiring is 90% done.

rust prevention was done for the dash metal mount.

Installed new grounds, also had to make a custom cpu mount,

as i extended the wires, the harness comes where it should come... haha, what a perfectionist..

only problem is this piece of bastard crap, fuel filter. it was a fuc... PITA to get the old filter out, and the new one wont go in, hope the thread is till good.

Whats missing,

The speedometer, the axles, the exhaust and a little bit of wiring.... Of course the fuel filter....

Time is a COMING<

quick question about those red lines/hoses, will they always be there? since they stand out a bit.

Can't wait for the next update! This is going extremely well, especially for a one man job. Kudos to you.

nah its they just stand out a bit too much you know? if they where say black you'd hardly notice them, and more focus on the redtop in a black engine bay wink.gif

well i have been putting all these pics, some of the stuff is pretty basic, i have more pics, but then it makes it longer.

the engine is untouched, meaning original clutch and timing belt. it only has 35K miles., so i will probably do that in the future,

in the meantime, I have my camera... I have to adjust the air intake, i cut the nipples, and used jb weld to close the hole,

some wires need to be done, and axle rebuild. Some parts will be painted, and cleaned.

I even bought a small sandblast gun, for the small things.

What i did extra was

1. Extended the wires to have the harness come through the firewall were it should.

2. Created my own cpu mount,

3. Installed my own grounds,

4. New heater core

5. Remodeled the air intake (using a MAF from an avalon)

6. sanblasted the exhuast,

7. Relocated the vacuum sensor

8. The harness has an all new heat tubing, everything was replaced.

9. new battery terminals

10. Clean the engine bay

I cannot think of anything else..

I can make a list of tips for any swap, i learned the hard way, but that will come later.

and to prove its alive...

thats me with the accelerator, its not the idle.. LOL it has no exhaust!!!!

Congrats on a job well done.

1994 GT-S (BEAMS) swap complete
i find this very interesting and congrats........ i am doing a swap to 3sge from a 7afe ..however i noticed that you seemed to have less problems when it comes on to the engine mounts... they had to do plenty fabrication to make it work for me.

the only thing you have to do in an ST chassis is drill 2 holes to mount the passanger side mount.

hmmm.... thats correct they did that for the passenger side however the mounts for the driver side, front and back didn't line up kindasad.gif .. they used back the mounts for the st front, back and side.

the bracket that connect to the automatic transmission for the 3sge has 3 bolt pattern and when i sourced the bracket that fits the transmission i realise that it conflicts with the connection set up for the chassis. i don't have pictures for that yet .... they fabricated something though..an connect back the old bracket and mount from off the 7afe transmission......... sorry to hijack this thread
the center crossmember is different between st and gt

and no, im not done, haha stillneed the axles

ok they are different i see...... well i am still in the middle of my swap hopefully i can get it started tomorrow and do a engine bay wash ..it really looks like a mess now.. yea i had to get the axles i had to travel across the country yesterday to get the exhaust manifold for the engine and crank case bottom.. luckily i got it with the heat shield but now i realize that the bottom part cannot be connected to my piping as there are 2 exhaust holes at the bottom, mine only has one.......so back to the hunting ........a day in the life of engine swapping lol

Well i had the first run today, what can i say, VVTI kicks in, and booom, compared to the 5sfe, there is none.

i have driven a turbo celica, before, and its cool, maybe i look into that in the future, but this is enough for now..

I had the test pipe made, will be getting a Cat converter in the future. But Im impressed, even my wife is impressed, its awesome. picks up fine

I will be doing tune up in the future, like the water pump, timing belt and clutch, but im happy as is now.

A few things are needed, like put the bumper back on, the heat shields, and stuff, but im going out of town, and im lazy now...

This is the gap i had with the exhaust...

50 bucks plus this cut in half

and the exhaust shop made this for me..

engine as it seatss

side view

exhaust

and a little video....

would i do it again? Yes Im looking for another one...
