And I dont want to take anyone down horrible roads..which is why all of this is just a big feeler for the most fun/comfortable cruise.

Cool, cool. So it's a for sure thing on the 15th? If so, what time do you wanna start?

Id say I want to be rolling around 10-1030 the latest...possibly earlier as the heat has been a major factor recently.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Start the cruise at 930..should be done by 1130, and if anyone wants to meet up in White Settlement at 1130, thatd be cool too.

I'll post more info monday
Sorry, I was real busy (to say the least on monday), Tomorrow I am going up towards denton, so I'll hit up the road and post back! And if there is a modification to the route, I will totally post.

Ok, since I did not have a chnace to check out Upper Denton Rd, and I dont want to take anyone down a road I havent been on before (did that before, and it tends to wind up being a long day) I changed the route. Pretty much the same though
Meet up at Benbrook YMCA
Make part of run through Aledo/Bankhead, then hop on 20 for a sec
Cruise back to Aledo through Old Airport Road/FM 5 South.
Stop at Sonic to chill before departing.

Meeting up at 930-945
Should Arrive at Sonic around 11-1130 (ish)
Will it just be you, me, and my MR2 buddy, or will Hazmat be able to make it?

Indeed, I do need to make that one and once a set date is announced, I will plan in advance and ask for days off. Anyway, I got this upcoming Tuesday-Thursday off if you guys want to do a mini get together or something? Early or afternoon would probably be best but whatever comes along I should be free one of those days.
Again, I'm really sorry I couldn't make it. I still feel sick to my stomach man kindasad.gif

Yeah, dont worry guys. Thats why I do cruises now as opposed to meets. Lets say you get all this stuff together for a meet, and last minute everyone cant make it, well that kind of sucks. On a cruise though if no one can make it, thats alright because a solo cruise isnt all that bad either.
So, I decided to make FM 5 South my regular route. I like it because there are two lanes, the posted speed limit isn't too low, and honestly, its the best around this area. The "meat" of the run is about 18 miles (thats 9, small loop, 9 back).
Aledo seems like a good place to get a group to show up, its off off of 20 (but if your like me, you'll wind up taking a more enjoyable drive out there). The run also allows for further branching out on the way home (or to there). Myself, it takes about 30 minutes to get to Aledo from where I live, so all in all it'll be about an hour and half on the road. Which isnt too bad.
When I find a good place to meet up at in Aledo and have a date set, I'll post the info and maybe some of you guys who have nothing better to do on a Sunday morning can join me in a little cruise.
I'll post more info in the coming week!
Hey guys, Ive got nothing going on this Sunday. So after a quick tune up im going to run FM5S, I'll try to take vids and post em up. As it stands I have some guys from DI interested in going, so the future events may be a mixed lot. But I would love for fellow 6GC'rs to participate!
Edit.............I'll probably be making this run around 930 in the morning. If you want to go, txt or PM me, but those who have my digits, text me!

Ok, so I ran it early, and took a crappy video this time.....really need to build that mount. As soon as I load/edit it, I'll post it up.
Edit...Gotta get 1.13 GB down in size....ugh
Edit again......218 MB, currently uploading to photobucket, lets hope it actually works!

I did not know that photobucket (free account) limited my vids to 10 min. So sadly I am missing about 7 min from the video. But while I look for another provider enjoy the first 10 minutes of the cruise.

And please keep in mind, that I am a guy who has no intention on smacking guys on bikes and other cars, so before you want to say how slow it looks, please keep in mind the speeds were within the limits (55-60, for the most part).
Thanks!
Also, this is only going to be up for about two weeks, as its a big chunk out of my PB account.

So Im going out again on September the 5th. Any takers?
I may be able to make it out that day but it is a sunday and I'm all over truck still usually. Hopefully man... hopefully.
Update............I will not be going to the run as I will hopefully be installing my new half shaft. Gunna be a good day worth of work........might as well do a tune up and flush/fill as well.
OMG it back from the depths of its watery grave.

So, Here is the deal. I have some time off coming up soon. More specifically the 28th this month (December) and the 3rd of January. I'm only here in Ft Worth until sometime in August/September. So I want to do as much as I can while the weather is holding out.
I know its real short notice, but hell, I'm going to drive FM 5 South a few more times before I leave, and though its not as long as a cruise as I like, its still fun (ask Dillon). Anyone wanting to meet up and cruise let me know, I'll throw something together!
You know what, F that. Here is what I'm doing. Taking FM5, Old Airport Road, South 171 to Cresson, then 377 North (back into DFW), all around non stop 1 hour and about 20 minutes. Not bad, right?
It's a pretty easy route. The worst road (as in condition ) is Old Airport Road. Although its a bit narrow and beat up at times, its not that bad, and who knows, you may see a zebra?
Either way if the weather holds out (which so far it is) I'm rolling this route. I will be gassing up at the Racetrac (8900 Benbrook Blvd) around 1100, grab a bite in Weatherford, and run the rest out while stopping for pics at random spots. Should wind up back Southeast Ft Worth around 130-200.
Both days as long as weather permits.
Being that it has a chance of rain tomorrow, Im going to hold out for the 3rd. If anyone is interested, let me know.
Scratch that. Since Im up early tomorrow I'm running out to Glen Rose. I've heard that it is a halfway decent run, and total three hours driving time. I'll charge the camera and try to catch some video and pics for you guys. As you know I've been looking for a decent run thats not hours and hours away. But it seems that we need to leave the area for one, which for me is no problem, but I dont want to drag all you guys out for an 8+ hour trip.
Also since I am leaving the area in the coming months, I'll post up all the fun routes I've found for the rest of you DFW guys to take advantage of. Which means I see a lot of driving coming up. When I make those runs, I'll post the info in this thread and my overall opinion of the route in the other one.

Well, just got back. Im coming through the video as soon as I get it loaded. And I'll post all the fun roads to drive on a different thread, so look forward to that. All in all, it was totally worth the 50 minute drive, I just wish the roads were dry today....oh well. But we really should try to get something together for this one. It's close enough for most of us, and all total I only went 176 miles, and that was with a few detours on the route.
OK, its like I'm talking to myself.
Anyhow, I'm planning another "Fun Run". I want to say on the 16th I'm going to visit Weatherford, Old Dennis (south), FM1189, FM4 to Palo Pinto, and 180 E. All in all about 2 hours or so. Go look it up, and plug in terrain in G Maps. Smooth, then hills, then smooth, then canyon-ish. I read about part of this route on a miata forum (and those guys like to drive), looks like fun. So if your game, lemme know and we'll work out where to meet and all that good stuff.
With the weather being all weird this time of year, its always going to open to rescheduling. And I'm brining the camera, as this is one that should go into the "routes" thread I started. Which, if you know of any, let me know!
