My 3rd Gen 3SGTE Swap Thread - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #73105 297 posts Started by presure2
man, that is as simple as wiring in a beams. so why pay 400 bucks. i mean if peope keep asking how to swap a 3sgte, i dont know what else they want.

more detailed than this, maybe we need to hold their hands.

I am tempted sometimes to get another celi, the problem is time and space.

but this is awesome.

Maybe i missed it, but what did u use to clean the tranny to be able to paint it.

one more thing, is the blue srs wire included in this harness or is it the same as the beams?

Learned a lot in 10 years...I hardly log in anymore, last loginToday Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOLIf you PM me and I dont respond, dont fret or cry. Im alive, better post your questions in the thread below, maybe I log back in2grfe Swapped...Why I chose the 2GR, before you ask read here...A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within.@llamaraxing in Instagram is the best way to find me. dont really know what you mean, but i just know i wanted my clutch switch to work..lol
thanks, i definetly do plan on enjoying it!!

noberto, agreed, the wiring defiently is pretty simple, especially when you have dustin who knows the 3rd gen wiring pretty much by heart at this point.
each 3rd gen swap we've done, he's gathered more info, and pretty much has it down to a science at this point.

thanks again, D, couldnt have gotten this done like this without your help.

going out in a few minutes to button the last of it up, more pics and a couple idle vids will be up real soon.

Needs to be wired up or bypassed for the car to start.

i know this.... i personally figured it would be easier to bypass.....seeing as my car never came with one i always thought it would be a pain to install it...seeing as you dont need it

Some tracks don't let you race unless the clutch start function works properly. And, its really not very hard to hook up at all. Its just the wire you use to bypass it, cut it and run one end to one pin and the other end to the other pin of the switch that's at the bottom of the clutch pedal. It just interrupts the signal until you push the switch by pushing in the clutch.

I was just trying to explain why I think most people would want to hook it up and that its really not a pain to do. My car didn't come with the wiring either, it was an auto. I wired it in like a year after the swap just to have it work like a factory 5spd.

Anyway... YAY, IT RUNS!!!!!! I'm very excited for you guys!!

Great posts on this page. You couldn't have been any more specific with which wires need what for the 3S swap, you've shown where to cut a hole in the firewall for those who don't want to extend the wiring harness. I think this thread should be added to the stickies for the 3S swap as well. Great job! Can't wait for the vids!

pretty much all buttoned up, just a few minor details to attend to.
i just wanted to get it road worthy, make sure there were no leaks ect.
turns out i got a bad intercooler waterpump with the clip, but luckily i had a spare in the garage that jeremey was going to let jim borrow back in the day.
a couple pics and a quick vid i threw together.

first i need to remove the helper spring for now. i think its pulling the door closed at higher RPM.
i wasnt planning on running more than 17lbs anyway, till i get the EMU installed down the road. then i can eliminate boost cut and the speed limiter without issue. smile.gif
thanks guys.

ahh i see now. so once thats installed that will help eliminate boost cut?

manny (not tryin to thread jack) but will i get boost cut when i put my motor in with out the EMU?

st205 powered ss3 coupe
Boost cut on a GEN3 is 18psi. As long as you are under 18psi you will not hit boost cut.

330whp 309ft/lbs @ 21 PSI

no, it was the first ride in the car, and we were trying to set the boost controller.
im planning on taking some nice pics, as well as doing a nice detailed discription of how the 3s feels VS the 5sfte this weekend.
just quick, the biggest diffrence ive noticed is the driveability.
very low throttle, and especially part throttle boosting is VERY smooth, like it should be.
i love the sound of the motor at higher RPM, it just sings.
awesomeness in everyway.
