well that's because I'm going to do all the body work myself though. It might be more than that, but the actual paint job is worth $300, then they probably have to prep, so whatever amount for that and then labor charges

so something happened with the clutch last night. was driving back from the beach and I went to down shift into third after coming off an exit ramp, it wouldn't go in so I pumped the clutch again, tried putting it in 3rd again, still wouldn't go in. So then I jammed it in, burnt the clutch, finally engaged, went to shift into 4th, and it felt like the clutch was just gone. I was only about 10 miles from home, called AAA and got it towed. Getting it towed to Toyota tomorrow. I don't feel like dealing with taking the whole tranny out myself. I have a feeling it's the TOB based on reviews that I read. Also whenever the car was idling, I would hear a chattering, but when I pushed the clutch pedal in, it went away. It's warrantied so I'm probably just going to see if I can get my money back and get a OEM clutch put in for right now.
well lesson learned. never buying an ebay clutch again. Dustin and Steph will be back up tuesday to finished up the clutch because I had to order oem parts. As for right now, finally got around to changing out the glass from the usdm headlights to the cracked jdm ones. can't wait to get that finished! Then I have to do the power folding mirror swap as well as get all the extended studs on my car. While the car is off the road, for the short time, I'm getting some sanding and priming done on the front end panels and then it will be off to the rest of the car to do the body work. Once that is all finished, it'll be time to slap on a $400 maaco paint job!
man from reading your thread im about to send my mom some money (she lives in rhode island my home state <3 )and get a parts car..i hate this area im in, because theres no celicas in junkyards(i seen a 5gc right down the road from me junked but basicly useless) and just sucks....i had my eye on a parts car but insurance auto auctions wants 200$ for a year fee when ill only be using it one time!....irritating...one day ill find one for parts!...if you come across a 7afe manual trans with no issues at all with the trans let me know!!...ill even have my friends come grab it and ship it for you!
there's someone on here right now selling an ST haha he has it in the buying selling section.
no major updates right now though, I have just been starting to get some body work done. I'm starting on the front end right now and working my way to the back of the car. The bumper is almost done, and then the fenders and hood. Then everything else lol
Also, I finally did the glass swap from the usdm headlights to the jdm headlights with the accent lights on them and I sprayed the inside gun metal pieces black and I think it looks pretty good, probably better once the car is all black

I'll have them up by Saturday, I have orientation for college tomorrow and Friday haha
Plus I still need to wait for the blue accent lights
Oh yeah, and btw, I would recommend sealinreg your high beams if you are willing to. I highly doubt water will be getting in mine after the way I sealed it... lmao

Got my exhaust completely redone today! It was a pretty penny cause 1) he had to weld another stud onto ebay manifold and drill out the o2 sensor on one side, and 2) re-thread a stud and but because it stripped, and 3) redo the flex pipe section cause the piece I bought from another member on here (not going to say) did not fit properly. It was almost hitting the axle and was sitting on the sub frame of the car. Then, he also routed the piping through the stock way (over the suspension) and then to a flowmaster 40 series muffler and put a tip on. It sounds pretty nice and aggressive too. Not that our cars are anywhere near a muscle car, but it does sound like it has some muscle haha It sounds deep and you can sometimes hear the backfiring as well. It's not loud, but little small ones. Overall, I'm very satisfied! Just have to bring it back tomorrow to get the tip realigned cause it was crooked after it was off the lift.
Sorry I never got the pictures of the head lights, you can't really see the blacked out parts until you get up close.
Just a picture of some progress.
Right after I took it, I went and took off all the white cap pieces and put black electrical tape over the holes for now lol

Forgot to mention, just hit quarter of a million today haha

Well I started yesterday, but I'm almost done swapping out the power folding mirrors. Was a lot easier than I had thought! The hardest (most time consuming) part will be putting extra wires through the stock harness from the door to the frame. I'm trying to keep it as OEM as possible.
So the power folding mirror swap was a success, the driver side one doesn't want to close all the way though
I'll fix that when I get a chance.
Just picked up some fiberglass and resin today, as well as some other stuff to fill in the holes I drilled when I had the side skirts on
And also going to fix the rear quarter panel because it's rusted out underneath and dinged up as well.

Finally got tires for the rims that I bought off of Dustin (batman722). Mounted them on the car with 15mm spacers in the rear and 10mm spacers in the front. They're pretty close to being flush, but I didn't want them flush in case I decide to lower it whenever I need to replace my struts. Need to install the new tie rod ends since mine are completely shot on both sides and then it'll be time for an alignment. Tomorrow I will be working on filling all the holes I have near the rocker panel. I'll take pictures of that progress tomorrow as well as pictures of the wheels on. Can't wait to get everything done and get her painted!
Pictures of the fitment! Today, not tomorrow!

Pictures as promised!

IIRC, the offset on the rims is 42 so the 15mm and 10mm spacers make it close to being flush

funny story, i took it off roading a little with the stock wheels and bottomed it out at one point lol
i think that was about the time that I completely messed up my alignment

so just found out tonight that i cant have more than 3 people in the car or it rubs. even with just 2 people (including me) it rubs a tad bit. Looks like im selling my 15mm spacers in the rear and putting my 10's there and getting 5's for the front. I need spacers because the lugs wont work since the studs stick through them, or i just get a different set of lugs..blahhh.
Roll the rears.
You can rent a fender roller at Taylor Rentals (I did) and you won't have that problem anymore.

Little by little I'm getting the body work done. It's nothing spectacular, but it's pretty decent for my first time. Lately I've been filling the holes that I originally drilled for the stock side skirts. That was a bad mistake in my opinion. Today, I started the body work behind the driver's side door because there was a semi long dent from a shopping cart. Also, I deleted the radio antenna because the quarter panel is rusting out underneath like a futher mocker, and there is a nice ripple in the quarter panel from the previous owner. With that, I'm going to do the best I can with it. I'm going to have to mold the rear bumper on since it was pushed that far in and it is pretty noticeable when looking straight at the rear. Just going to mold the passenger side as well to make it symmetrical. Then comes the fun of fiber glassing the sh!t out of the underside of the quarter panel. Here are some pictures from what I did today. (still needs some work, highs and lows in some spots)

lookin good mike!
what grit paper did you use?

I believe I start with some 40 grit to get the paint down around the antenna and also used that for the bondo/fiber glass stuff and a little on the body filler. Then went to 100 grit after that on both the fiber glass stuff and body filler. To further smooth it, I went to a 320 grit. I missed a few spots in the quarter where I had used the 40, but there is still a ton of work that needs to be done there haha

I used an 80 grit to take off the paint to avoid scratching too deep into the body. I think it made priming easier. And an even higher after I'd finished Bondo-ing then went back to a 320 for cross hatching. IDK the difference but my dad swears that's the technique he used at his shop waaaaaaaay back in the day. But my primer's smoooth lol
I'm in like... the same place as you on mine now. My mother has been gracious enough to buy my books for school and I'm going on grants.
If I ever find a stupid input shaft I'll be taking the body kit off and re-sanding and blocking the lower parts for a cheapo Maaco job.

Well I'll have some pictures up of the progress tonight. Found another rust spot on the passenger side rear quarter panel, but it isn't too bad yet. Luckily I caught it while it was still semi small. Filled the dings on the passenger side as well and now I'm going to mold this side of the bumper too. Started grinding the rust and paint off the doors, but I still need to get Pour15 or whatever it is to put inside of them. I'll only be able to work on her during the weekends from here on out because I'm leaving for college tomorrow afternoon. It's only 45 minutes away, from what my dad says, but it's like 30 to 35 for me, which still isn't too bad considering. I might even just bring some of the stuff with me to do work while I'm down there haha
The rear quarter is almost decent now. I hate saying perfect cause it will never be perfect, but it is a sh!t ton better than what it use to be lol I'll get pics up when I can. Got a newerish radio from Dustin yesterday so it the sound system sounds better now and I can control the subs volume wise and I can turn them off without a switch. Also, the car is finally one color minus the spoiler, mirrors, and plate bezel. There's just some minor bodywork that still needs to be done and then it'll be time for paint
did you bring the car to school?

Yes I did haha
Updated for what's happening in the future: Looking at doing my timing belt, water pump, tensioners, and oil pump during my winter break from college. The seals on my oil pump are just partially gone and I have to fill it up every now and then, but it's starting to leak more little by little. Being that I don't know when anything was last done, might as well do it all in one shot. Saw the DIY on here and it looks like it will be loads of fun...but if I can do it myself, it's one more thing that I can do myself and not have to pay for labor.

Alright, well today was a successful day with the rear quarter panel! It's sooooooo smooth now, with the exception of the underside. The rusted hole was made about 3 times bigger than what it was as I was using some sort of grinding thing on it lol. Then I put a diamond cut sticky sheet in there and just plopped a crap ton of long strand fiberglass bond on the inside until there was no light showing through. After, I started to do the outside little by little with the fiberglass and then put body filler over it. Just have to order some por15 or whatever it is, and put on the inside of the quarter to make it very sealed. Just have to redo the fenders, hood, and bumper next weekend, and she will officially be ready for paint!!!!!! i'm so f*cking excited, more than when a fat kid sees cake. It's been just over a year since I fixed the front end and gahhh, it's just amazing how far she has come and how much I have learned over the time period.
your patience for body work amazes me. good stuff man. pictures?
I didn't get pictures of everything though, but.....

hate to say it, but that wont last long. but keep up the good work
