Yeah, the stock Celica pedals suck for heel to toe.
This is awesome man, I love your car and I love your work.
REALLY makes me wanna rally my 165 but I'm a long way mechanically (I can't weld) and financially from that at the moment. God, I want a cage!

Keep in mind i'm flying into that corner at about 75 mph blind on gravel. Unless I can heel to toe, which I can't especially with the pedal setup and my big ass feet.
I do it all the time in my audi on snow, but it's completely different being in a race situation.
Oh i wasn't trying to insult your intelligence by any means

just my .02 which was really worth about .00 to someone who does it ALL the time lol. I guess you never drove it around much without all of your mods so it would be hard to tell, but I was going to ask you how the awd felt in that car in comparison to the stock fwd.

No worries. The learning curve is pretty steep for me here, mainly because I dont live in an area that allows me to practice at all.

Engine out again... 3rd time in 2 months. Swapping in an exedy 3 puck clutch. The centerforce hybrid I have was basically had the stock clamping force. Wasn't cutting it. 3sgte flywheel too.
Also putting in a 121 liter engine in.

looks like you have enough practice to get the engine in and out in a few hours

Ehh, there's a few hurdles... my exhaust is a pain in the ass to get off. I was in a hurry and didn't use the right flanges. The slide in flanges with clamps suck.
Also my rear engine/tranny mount sucks to get in and off. I made it and its a really tight fit to get a socket in there. It has to come off in a certain order. Also draining the fluids is also a pain...
Hopefully i'll have some videos after next race. I leave two weeks from tomorrow.

I love mine

worth the money I think.
Got the new clutch in the car. Feels 100x better. I can actually feel the clutch bite when shifting now.
I also think the last one was robbing me of HP (well just adding drivetrain loss). The centerforce pressure plate was about 1/2 inch thicker than the exedy. The pressure plate was rubbing on the inside of the bellhousing. Initially it just lathed itself in there perfectly and drove fine, but I think when the clutch got hot it would expand and slow the car down due to the friction. When we removed it, the normally gold painted pressure plate had a coating of meltedish aluminum on it.
Feels like i picked up about 20 hp and actually grabs hard. Now all i have to worry about is breaking cv joints off the line. 7000 RPM clutch dump, hopefully those tires break loose a little. With the last clutch I couldnt even spin tire on gravel. Clutch just slipped.
Also added Super Blue racing clutch fluid. After about 16 hard miles without stopping the fluid started to boil. I think this is due to running at +5k rpms for about 20 straight minutes. The clutch slave sits about 5 inches from the header and its cast iron so itll definately heat soak.

doesn't it feel good to be able to say that you raced your car so hard that the clutch fluid boiled? I wish i could say something like that. Keep this up man, we are all living vicariously through you and your rallying
you should heat wrap the header...or GTE head?
What I think when you think I care
Interesting day.... dad fell out of a tree putting up his tree stand for hunting season. He can barely move now... My buddy that races isn't able to race, so his normal co-driver is going to race with me.
Anyways, I was doing my pre-race inspection. Found my rear passenger side control arms looked like rainbows.... Not even the side we had an off on, so i'm not sure what happend or when.
The other side was fine. I pulled them off and straightened them in my press as best as I could. Not ideal but itll have to do for this race. Ill probably make my own control arms this winter, because the GT4 ones are weak as hell.
Also there's a pic of the old clutch from rubbing on the bellhousing.

one of the fwd rear control arms are tubes, the "bigger" one.
and the smaller diameter rear control arm is a solid bar.
3/4" round stock on both?

Finally had a rally in which I had no issues with the car. (other than lighting) Don't have many pics right now, but probably will in the next few days. My camera unfortunately did not come with a battery charger so I dont have any vids.
I came in 3rd in class, but there was only 5 haha, and wasnt close to 1st or 2nd, but wasnt expecting to be. 16th out of 36 starters. I really sucked on the night stages, my lights weren't pointed right and I couldnt see real well.
I only had one close call... on the last stage over the finish line it goes into a rigth 3 turn which is about a sweeping 90 bend. I let off the gas halfway through the turn and spun. The umbrella girls and finish control got a kick out of that. Stayed on the road for my spin though.
Hopefully I'll get some good pics, tingwu song (chinese rally champ) wrecked a 100k+ car pretty bad on the first night stage. Stage was redcrossed and ambulance had to come; some broken/bruised ribs, codriver had a broken ankle. Then the next car also 100k+ wrecked right behind him trying to avoid them.

I love it that you putting this thing to use beating the hell out of it. Finding the limits of your driving and the durability of toyota engineering. Toyota retired the ST205 back in 95 because they cheated. Once you fit a turbo in this thing (if those are your plans) it'll be a beast!! great to see someone racing the celica. There have been many members that do the awd conversion, but none of which take it onto the dirt like you.

I wonder if a v6 swap would serve you well. that TORQUE will really be nice in the lower revvs, meaning less shifts

HINT 3VZ has been proven to fit on the e154f with the least clearancing

Can i get a set of lower arms for the rear too if you make one?
Thanks guys.... 3vz is a novel idea, but 2.65 liters is the highest i can go without switching to the open class. I really don't want to do that. Those guys are marking around 320awhp.
Honestly I'll probably stay with this HP range for at very minimum another year. There's guys with 2wd less power than can destroy me.
I had dinner with chris greenhouse this weekend. This is his 'slow' little neon... watch atleast the first min of it, you'll get the idea. This is his video from STPR this year, my first race when the 5sfe blew. It looks much faster in person than on video.

you can try the 2vz then. its a 2.5L but your looking at a much older engine:
The 2VZ-FE is a 2.5 L (2507 cc) version. Bore is 87.5 mm (3.4 in) and stroke is 69.5 mm (2.7 in). Output is 159 hp (118 kW) at 5800 rpm and 159 ft·lbf (215 N·m) at 4600 rpm.
Applications:
* 19881991 Toyota Camry
* 19891991 Lexus ES 250
or you can go newer with as stated before the 2.5 4grfse:
The 4GR-FSE is a 2.5 L (2499 cc) version. Bore is 83.1 mm while stroke is reduced to 76.9 mm. Output is 207 PS (152 kW; 204 hp) at 6,400 RPM and 26.5 kg·m (260 N·m; 192 ft·lbf) at 3,800 RPM. This version also features Dual VVT-i, variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust cams and an improved D4-S direct injection system.
Applications:
* 2004 Toyota Mark X (GRX120/125) (Japan)
* 2006 Lexus IS 250 & IS 250 C (GSE20/25)
* 2003 Toyota Crown Royal & Athlete (GRS180/181)(Japan)
* 2008 Toyota Crown Royal & Athlete (GRS200/201) (Japan)
* 2009 Toyota Mark X (GRX130/135) (Japan)
Another option would be the 2MZFE, another 2.5 V6 but its apparently pretty rare.
The 2MZ-FE is a 2.5 L (2496 cc) engine replacing the 4VZ-FE as the worldwide 2.5 L V6. Bore is 87.5 mm and stroke is 69.2 mm. Output is 200 hp (150 kW) at 6000 rpm with torque of 180 lb·ft (244 N·m) at 4600 rpm.
Applications:
* Toyota Camry
* Toyota Windom (Japanese domestic market)
* Toyota Mark I (Japanese domestic market)
