If anyone is interested in something cool....

This is Ramana Lagemann's car. Just doing pre 2013 prep. He runs super production and not open, so it's not even a top spec car. That suspension is about $15k.

Nothing too exciting lately. Built a tire rack, and removed the deck off my trailer and por15'ed it. The underside was badly rusted. I didn't weld one of the 4x7 plates on and made a storage area. I made it bolt on.

I'm keeping, spare stock suspension, arms, steering rack, driveshaft, axles, radiator, etc... Never have to unload it... will just sit in there all year round incase I break anything at a rally.

Starting building the tire tractionizer this weekend, so that should be somewhat interesting. I have 4 blizzak ws70's and 3 hakka R's from last year I'll use as spares. The hakka's are better tires, but they are getting harder to find at the price I want. Had 6 hakka's last year, cut two on a stump, and one fell off the trailer after a strap broke (hence the tire rack for this year).

Oh man.... this has been like a novel of awesome for me tonight... Wish i had a wad of cash to finish my GT up and go buy another or an ST and start rally building it... I don't have your skills but man, would it be fun!
Started building a tire tractionizer. Drop the weight of the car on to the rollers run the car for a minute or so on each wheel. Creates a sponge like tire. Pretty much extreme sipping.

Need to finish the other roller, but it's getting there. Sucker is sharp.

That looks awesome! Are those nails and how deep do they penetrate?

They are gutter screws. Honestly i'm a little worried they may be too long and should have used a washer on each screw to shorten them up.

The ones they sell for like $1k, use carpet tacks, and a lot more of them, but takes a lot more effort due to the fact you have to weld each one, or use some kind of adhesive/epoxy.

If it doesnt work I can just cut them off the rollers and start again.

New project. Well as soon as I finish remodeling my kitchen.

Flood damaged solstice, for the girlfriend. Interior is completely trashed, exterior is in pretty good shape. Engine, we'll find out. But the plan all along is for a v8... but if the engine isn't hydrolocked, I'll probably fix it as is, then get the R title. Then maybe a v8 later down the road.

Picked it up yesterday in NJ. It's a sandy victim.

I always did like how those looked, but didn't like driving my friend's NA 5 speed. The GXP would probably be better to drive and stuffing a Corvette V8 under the good would definitely fix my gripes with the base model. Don't expect it to outrun your Celica with the stock Ecotec though. tongue.gif

Randomly found a pic from our last race after the roll rebuild.

Amazing because the rear diff blew out 4 miles in. Probably half mile past the photo.

Pinion Bearing disintegrated, which in turn destroyed everything else. Pics a few pages ago.

Did it absolutely destroy everything in it? because im looking for the inner diff helical thingies that has a 2 teeth missing and If you have 2 of those left over of the last diff I could take em off your hands smile.gif

I may have them. Are you talking inside the diff itself? The pinion and ring gear were destroyed. The diff itself maay be good, but i drove it for probably 30 miles without fluid, clunking a long just to get it back to my service area.

If you have a pic, might be easier. I havent looked at the diff in a few months.

meh...its the 2 screw type gears that spin when you lose grip...but if you ran it without fluid...sounds like that thing can rest in peace haha...hard to find a diff that isnt ridiculous expensive for this car...I wish someone made an aftermarket rear diff for the celica

What I think when you think I care
Did anyone ever get a hold of a Rav4 rear end to check for similarities and common parts?
Come to think of it.... I made a scrap yard run a month ago or so. I'm pretty sure I scrapped the entire diff, so I wouldnt even have it anymore.

I have not looked at a rav 4 rear end. I just end up getting the gt4 stuff again.

I haven't folloewed this thread too close, I should have.

That diff looked nasty. The Rav had an option for lsd but it's rare. I have a spare open diff and pinion if you ever want it. I put a 205 lsd diff into my Rav, strait swap fyi.

nah, I need the inner LSD part of it but thanks anyways dustin! Atleast I know where i can get an emergency diff from smile.gif lots of rav4s around here

Thanks to qatar for finding this pic... Sno*drift last year. Hopefully better results this year.

Leaving a week from today.

Maybe I should offer to bring along a fascia and headlights - not driveline parts thumbsup.gif

Would they let you remove the crash bar and build a simple brush guard/push bar? Ive always wondered why you dont see some kind of external frameing to protect the body on rally cars.

You have to retain the exterior of the car.... there is a super structure that they usually build... let me find some photos...

One here is the skid plate on Chris Duplessis' Rally America Fiesta

In the front end its safer to use crushable materials. More deformation the less g forces on impact. So in the front they want it to crush. If you made a solid car, it might not deform but the gforce would kill you.

FYI, if anyone is curious as to why there is foam on the skid plate in the pic above, its to prevent rocks from getting wedged between the skid plate and oil pan.

I thoroughly enjoyed pushing your ass out of S20 with 15 - 20 of my newest drinking buddies.... we crossed back to the specator area and the lancer came flying by smile.gif

Thanks! We struggled the 2nd day. I had limited steering, a sputtering engine, and no lights on that stage. I got stuck once on the last 2 stages in the dark. Both were in spectator areas.... trying to do to much without really seeing the turn and how to set up for it.

Even with the sputtering engine the first 4 stages on saturday were decent, clipping the tree with the wheel over the flying finish caused the day to snowball though.

I got 3rd in OL the first day, I think 4th the 2nd... but we had a shatload of penalties.... late out of service trying to fix the lights. Late fixing a flat, with a dead impact gun.

I was wondering what you were doing without the light bar.... If can block can lose an entire day with a bad alternator - you can live without lights smile.gif
