As of right now I'm not swapping to either lol but when I do another its gonna come down to witch ever motor I can find first
Either way I will need a new wiring harness an trans so it'll just be another full swap an this 1mz swap will get a new home in my coupe

Smaay's 3mz seems to be doing well on 1mz nonvvti electronics. You could probably go the same route and avoid the massive 2gr celica project.
If I go 3mz I want vvti to work
I'm not scared of doing a 2gr just no funding as of now
Once my 1mz is 100% right I'll start gathering parts an deside witch motor I want to go with
The 1mz will then be transplanted into the coupe once I have it all gathered up for another swap

If you don't make it under 15 seconds you'll be shunned for life. tongue.gif

If I can't break 15s I'm running it into a wall an calling it quits

Well the 1mz made it to the track an home last might

Made 2 passes first was a 15.5 the second was a 15.3
Both with a 1.1/1.2 reaction time. I was still running the stock 15s so I spun through 2nd. I think with a better set of tires I can break 14s

95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy99 gt hatch beams swapped wife's94 st hatch my daily driverhttp://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=82235n
SHUNNED!!!!!!!

Theoretically you should be in the mid-high 14's. Perhaps a good set of sport tires will help, that and messing with the suspension.

Suspension has a LOT to do with traction and being able to put power down. I'm sure you can do 14's.

I think if I wasn't spinning through most of the 60ft mark I could drop a second off
The 5.0 mustang I raced ran a 14.2 an was only 2mph faster at the end but he gain his whole lead by the 60ft mark
I was gaining ground at the end

Time for some tires and suspension!!! Once you break into the 14's we'll throw a party.

2001 Miata LS 5-speed
that is all tires man! get yourself a set of BF drag radials and you will drop over 1 second. reaction time only matters in head to head races, what were your 60 foot times?

I'll have to dig the slips back out but I'm pretty sure it was 2.6 seconds on both runs

Drag radials is kind of cheating though, we want street numbers. tongue.gif

I'm gonna put this here......

Thanks for bringing it out to Toledo. It was a blast. Definitely will shock some people. Very impressed.
You should go with a harlequin theme, saves on paint costs. tongue.gif

Picked up a set of rust free doors over the weekend
They were basically dent free too till I went to put them on frown.gif
Dropped one on the jack frown.gif do now I have a dent in the once clean pass side door kindasad.gif
But they came from a base model st so I now have much lighter doors. Non power windows an locks FTW!! Lol

I'll try to update with some pics of what I've done to it here lately soon
Been slacking a lot on this thread.

Can't be that much lighter. The power lock is just a solenoid that weighs a few grams, and then the window motor is a pound or two. If anything these weigh more since they're not rusted out. tongue.gif I hate when you have something near perfect, and somehow screw it up. I think at this point you should definitely go harlequin. tongue.gif

2001 Miata LS 5-speed
Its a weight difference you can feel I know that much
You lose alot of wiring too the door panels are alil lighter due to no switches.

True. Still, I rather have the extra 10-20 or so pounds to save trouble. tongue.gif Reaching over to roll a window up or down, or to open and lock the door sucks.

I don't roll my pass side window down unless someone is in the car with me. An the power locks didn't work right in the old doors
Once I get the dash wiring ill have power mirrors again
