Great work with the harness!

Thanks!
Id say I spent a total of 18 hrs to get it to that point.

8k front 6k rear. Hopefully I will be happy with that.
I had originally planned to get a completely custom exhaust manifold but after some back and forths with the fabricator we came up with a much cheaper solution.
He cut the flange off of the BEAMS manifold and welded it to the runners of the M2 stainless headers that were on the 5S. Boom. Knocked the price down to the ground. Once I test fit to see how it fits, ill take it back to him to fine tune it if needed, and then get it ceramic coated.
I got back the intake manifold from the powder coaters

the color isnt perfectly matched but I really dont care....more important things to worry about right now!

got the oil pan welded up real fast today so I could button up the bottom end.

Nice
8 and 6kg is what I have in my Tanabe coilovers, and I think its perfect for a sporty ride. Firm, but well damped and consistent.
BTW, have you started ordering bits for the Active Pro yet? I'm planning to get one for my new car.

SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR ----->See it here on 6GC!2013 October Celica of the Month XDNow: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 ----->See it here in off topic!
Part of me thinks I should have gone with 10/9 with 8/7 in the rear but that can always be changed later on. I believe the re-dampning supports maybe 1k more
I haven't yet. Probably next month. I have the motors I just need the Unit

Can you take mea picture of the inside of that intake manifold? I am seriously considering a wet nitrous system.... Just want to get an idea of what it looks like.

Hasty cell phone pictures but I can get better ones if you need. Tuned intake runners FTW!

had small setback

No.4 spark plug wouldnt go in. Had to take the head off and re-tap the hole. I went ahead and cleaned the threads of the other 3 and cleaned the piston tops and valve bottoms. This is something I had no intention of doing for the next couple years
As of today the head is back on it just needs to be torqued back down. Hopefully I can get it all back together next weekend and get the motor ready to be put in.
NO.4 piston top with buildup from the ruined threads

NO.4 cleaned

NO.4 Cylinder Wall. Minimal Scuffing

dirty valves

clean valves

Keep up the great work Mike. We should go for a cruise sometime this summer when you have it all buttoned up!

Sorry to hear about your cylinder head threads. I had same issue with mine but just got a used bare hea for fear that rethreading would come undone over time

oooo! where did you get a spare head from?
Luckily I was able to clean and rethread the 2 bad threads in that hole rather than use the spark plug helicoil fix I had I have never used one of those before and enlarging the hole didnt sound like a fun job.

ran into a small snags here and almost completed my end day goal of mounting the motor but fell short due to weariness haha
friday night after driving back up from MD and before going to see Furious7 I was able to assemble the head
I was also persuaded into getting some ARP head studs
Started early saturday morn and began putting it all back together. I had to take off the Main Camshaft cap after finding a dowel pin that had fallen out. Luckily the FIPG had been on long enough so that it would just peel off

I dont have any images of the rest of the assembling. I was in the zone I guess

Took a mental break from the motor and worked on the fuel filter and routed ducting

Took the engine off the stand and mounted the flywheel and clutch

ready to mount tomorrow...that is if I can sneak away from holiday family time

Seriously, this looks like fabulous work; meticulous, thought out, and well-planned. This swap is coming along very nicely!

Did you seriously cut the eBay header from 5SFE and weld it to the beams flange?

I wasn't allowed much time on Sunday but I was able to partially mount it. I'm away for a couple weeks so this is how it'll sit for now. And yeah I had a different idea on how I wanted the manifold but when I picked it up from the fabricator that's that I got. It's a little cheaper than him making up a new manifold from scratch...plus his welds aren't too great so the less the better.
Thanks for the compliments, it helps me wade through the sea of frustration hahaha that and the occasional YouTube video of cars racing that replenishes my desire to get back on the road

tisk tisk tisk. the beams gods look down on you with disappointment. but if your trying to shave weight off the front of the car then i guess your right in that aspect.
if you look on all honda design or 4 cylinder designed 4-1 aftermarket header's. you can see that they merge into one pipe after the bend. everything is so bunched up in the space of 1 foot exhaust piping. i believe your now loosing horsepower. look here see
http://www.redline360.com/garage/4-1-vs-4-...akes-more-power
you should of ported/smoothed out exhaust header flange of your stock header (+5hp) and then created a new b-pipe (+2hp) that looks like this fujitsubo and hks design for the 3rd gen 3sge. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...mp;#entry941821

4-2-1 Would have been ideal but I am not really looking to find optimal performance through the header design at this moment. I was mainly looking to shave weight and keep cost down for unforeseen expenses that may arise during the swap.
I think the camshafts and ECU will be able to make up for the midrange power I have lost. Definitely in a couple years I hope to revisit the exhaust manifold. I'd really just like to make sure the swap is stable before I start picking things out like that

+1 the RHD swap was the same for me. If you spend forever making it perfect..... You'll Never drive it.

I say there's nothing wrong with working with what you have on hand in order to get it done faster, not like you can't go back later and redo it once all the bugs are worked out. Besides I don't think you'd really notice the few missing ponies at 7,000 rpm.

so after a couple weeks away from the car I got back from a work trip this past tuesday. I took off the next 3 days since it was a rough work trip and it would give me time to button everything up
here are some pics.

I didnt want to get another earful for using an odd color over my parents trash cans again hahaha. It worked out perfectly
here are some more pics of where I was able to get the car to this past weekend. Hopefully I will resolve the wiring issue this next upcoming weekend so that I can get it started and back on the road, make sure the engine is healthy, and start to fine tune the suspension a bit
I used dry graphite lubricant for the threads of the coilovers. It worked great until I over did it on one of the rear coilovers and gray liquid ran down the shock body. I tried to remove it with de-greaser but that stuff is fused on there.
I am also running the stock TEIN top paltes for now until I figure out how to best adapt the T3 plates and the Ksport Camber Plates

the car is a little higher than I would like it to be but I will get that all sorted once I get the car back on the road

the air filter is a bit big eh? Someday maybe I will make a box and get a smaller filter
