... I've never played FM3, so just wondering...

i just realized that the 24th is a wednesday! thats odd for a release.

Well ladies, I pre-ordered it. Not sure when I'll pick it up, probably within a week of the release. I just realized that I should have bought it at a store that allows returns, but oh well. Guess I'll have to like it. Next step is a Logitech Driving Force GT...

If it's the same as GT4, which felt numb and not very involving, I'm not going to enjoy that ****. But I've also heard a wheel really livens the game up, so I guess we'll see...

I loved GT4 when it came out, but when I got my Logitech wheel it made a HUGE difference. Vibrations and shakes at high speeds over rough roads, realistic feedback, it was incredible. I'll eventually get another wheel setup for GT5 I imagine, but I'll also need to finish my basement and make a mount and seat.

I played the demo today, it's awesome! Much better than GT4. It actually feels like the tires are rubber now, they always felt plasticky to me in previous versions (hopefully that makes some sense). The driving physics themselves felt immensely improved, much more realistic. The camera shake at loss of grip looks amazing, it really makes a difference (versus GT4). The grip range is pretty impressive, you can really feel the tires letting go. Visuals didn't impress me all that much but I care less about that, I'm not entirely sure it was above 720P. The damage modeling, from what I saw, looked pretty cool. I had a premium model, so there were very accurate dents. The in-car cockpit view is EPIC, it's a really cool way to play. I'll be looking forward to more of that, too bad only 200 cars have it.

Two gripes: in the in-car view, the steering wheel only has 180 degrees of rotation. A small thing, but it kind of bothers me for a game that prides itself on attention to detail. I'm guessing it's so the developers didn't have to model the driver's hands/arms crossing? Secondly, I still feel like the tires are reluctant to break loose (R8 4.2, professional simulation, no driver aids, Sport 3 tires). From a stop, even whilst on 100% throttle and letting the e-brake hold the car, it still seems to bog in my mind. Maybe it's just me...

All in all, my interest is now much more piqued, I'm real excited for this to come out. I imagine that with a proper steering wheel, this game could keep me entertained for years.

Is the demo any different than the Time Attack demo from late 2009/early 2010? Because that demo was GREAT, the handling was superb. I ranked pretty damn high too I was about 1.6 seconds away from the number one spot.... with my PS3 controller xD

I've never played that. Unless you're talking about GT HD? But that's from 2008 or earlier...

Nooo. In late 2009/early 2010 they had a GT5 demo that was a time attack. You could choose between a stock 370Z or a Nismo-tuned 370Z to use. That thing handled sooo great.

they had a demo at Gamestop when i was at the midnight release for black ops.

they had 4 tracks including a rally course.
and a soild 10 cars you could choose from
the new sls amg or whatever thats call (gullwing)
the gtr spec-v
lambo
2 ferarris
dakarta truck
etc.

i played it for a solid 30 min till i couldnt feel my legs

Even though GT5 has completely different physics, I started playing NFS Shift to get back into the swing of things, since it's the most realistically handling of the series.

Yeah the Gamestop closest to my house isn't doing a midnight, but the one I pre-ordered at is in a busy shopping center, has a midnight release for just about every big title. Not like getting it those few hours earlier is going to make a huge difference, but hey what the hell might as well get it early.

Just got mine, installing and updating as we speak.

Was cool, literally every person including myself at that specific Gamestop were all in the same local car club/forum so we got to chill and check out each others cars while we waited.

just put in a healthy 5hrs.
i didnt install that 8gb file to make everything run faster. i was super impatient, and it wasnt budging from 20min remaining for atleast 30min

the game is fantastic. the physics have improved ten fold.
there are a coupe things graphic-wiae where i see pixelization where i know for a fact they could have fixed.
